Each badge symbolizes a tier of commitment and resilience, styled in a unified **modern-fantasy visual theme**.

While it may not be for everyone There is a certain segment of the Hive community that takes pride in having never powered down their Hive Power. This new badge series is designed to celebrate their commitment and resilience. We recognize that powering down is a personal choice and an important part of Hive’s flexibility, so this badge is simply a way to honor those who have chosen to stay powered up continuously without implying any judgment on those who power down from time to time.

# Decentralizing Hive Badges with HiveHub Tools

We're excited to help make **Hive Badges** more decentralized by providing tools for different Hive apps and UIs to customize badge usage to suit their needs.

### Stats for Hive UIs
We provide Hive UIs with badge stats to help them make informed decisions on which badges to display. These stats are also a fun resource for users to explore the badges they've received and guide them in choosing badges they may want to follow:

Hivehub.dev is our opensource way to display some of the tools but we invite any website to do so themselves.

## Decentralization & Customization: The PeakD Filter
Any Hive UI can now filter which badges to display, allowing apps to tailor their badge experience. While Hive Badges are decentralized and don’t require our help, we’re making it easier for apps and users to access badge information, identify abandoned badges, and appreciate those valued by users.

**Stay Tuned:** @peakd will announce updates to their badge page soon and also their updated criteria for identifying abandoned badges and what badges will be assigned to users.

**PEAK VAULT on PEAKD**
As many know PEAK VAULT WALLET has been integrated into PeakD.com for a couple weeks and after much testing it seems to be working flawlessly. Working together with @peak.open we are set to promote and reward the usage of the wallet on PeakD.com.


**WHAT IS PEAK VAULT**
Peak Vault is a product created by @peak.open with the primary developer being @muwave with assistance by several others on the @peak.open team such as @asgarth @jarvie and @yozen 
It is a browser extension wallet similar to Hive Keychain. These are the only two usable wallets on Hive that can let you sign transactions on hive web apps. *(Aka Hive is now a little more decentralized)*

**Automated Badges** are built on open source software anyone can use and adapt for their own badges.

### **LEVELS FOR STAKED HIVE**
The @peak.open team has created many automated badges and is now created a new class of automated badges based on Core Hive Blockchain stats. This time it's a badge to represent **Stake Hive holdings (HP)**. The @PeakD team has already implemented them into their website! Starting today, these badges will appear on users’ profiles, proudly showcasing their Staked Hive aka Hive Power (HP)

We hope this starts a trend of automated badges that represent provable aspects of a person's account.

#### ABOUT THE BEE BADGES
Each badge is inspired by a unique type of bee (or it's cousin the wasp... aka social Hive/nest builders). Similar to what Hive Power does on Hive blogging sites this set of automated badges will reflect user influence and strength within the Hive ecosystem.

Like Minnow to Whales? Similar to the common ocean creature level system used in other blockchains these badges offer a cool way for Hive to recognize and celebrate your contribution to the Hive blockchain. A naming level system that can be uniquely Hive's.

###### Worker Bee: 2.5k - 5k HP
Diligent and hardworking, the Worker Bee is the backbone of the hive, always busy collecting and building.

Each of these badges will be automatically connected to users. Since Hive badges are meant for decentralized usage every Hive app/website is able to easily connect them to users and display them. Since they are automated and based on Blockchain information they will just automatically update. Remember: The more HP you hold, the more powerful your badge becomes! 
Again it should be noted PeakD.com will be displaying them uniquely on user profiles right at the launch of the badges.

Peak Vault helps the HIVE blockchain be more decentralized by no longer being dependent on one single wallet that can sign transactions on various hive websites. PeakD.com loves Hive Keychain and now we have another wallet that we wholeheartedly recommend specially for new users.

The PeakD team had a lot of feedback and say in the layout and design of this wallet hoping for a focus on very easy and intuitive User Interface perfect for our users.

A while back @lordbutterfly indicated that some new users were confused by ALL hive wallet pages and he made some suggestions. We decided it was about time to make some visual improvements to our page. 

We have an ADVANCED view and a SIMPLE view.
If you are a power user we default you to the advanced view if not you start with the simple view and you can easily change back and forth.

The layout has changed a little and the wording as well. 
We are looking for your feedback both for yourself and what you think will be the experience of new users.

# OPEN HIVE POLLS
This is an open source and decentralized polling system funded by the Hive DAO.
It uses HAF on its backend and is presently supported by a couple of the larger blogs like @peakd and @ecency.

Most recent changes are already available on: https://peakd.com/polls

Last week the backend developer finished the work to support new methods to interpret votes... this means accounts still vote but the way their vote is counted can be different. This is particularly of interest to sub-communities within the Hive blockchain community.

*Of note we used another open source Peak Open project to handle the job and payments 
https://genie.peakd.com/ which also helps make sure we are being good stewards of the funds given by the Hive community.*

Per our [PROPOSAL](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@peakd/peak-vault-and-metamask-snap-proposal-two-new-wallets-for-hive) We have decided to go with a decentralized group consensus approach to the audit of the Open Source Peak Vault Wallet, the MetaMask Snap wallet and the Hive Wallet SDK (which works for all wallets)

- PeakVault - This is the main product and the audit should focus on features that have most security impact. There is very little need to go through some of the UI and layout code.
- MetaMask - Once you've audited PeakVault you've done about 80-90% of the work to audit MetaMask snap wallet.
- SDK - A wrapper to the different wallets (Keychain, Peak Vault and MetaMask) that routes requests to the specified wallet. It should make for a quick and easy audit. This is the code that websites would install on their website which would support Vault, Snap and Keychain.

Once you apply for the audit we'll grant you access to the GitLab repositories to check out the code.

### Automate Your Badge Management with Open-Genie!

Are you interested in auto assigning badges but you aren't a developer? Do you manage a Hive community and looking to streamline your interactions? We are here to help. We are offering the service to implement automatic badge management to get the ball rolling. We would probably charge 100-200HBD but we're happy to do it for a select few communities for a symbolic amount of 10HBD to get the overall Hive community back into badges and excited again.


How It Works:
1. Create a wish: Visit [Open Genie](https://genie.peakd.com/make_wish) and create a wish explaining the criteria for your badge assignment.
2. Explain the criteria: Clearly outline the rules and conditions for assigning the badge. If your criteria are straightforward and fit our existing logic, we will handle the implementation for you.
3. Automation setup: If we like your wish and feel like we're a good fit we'll apply to be your Genie (or maybe another developer may jump in to do it).
4. Make the payment: Once satisfied close the wish as fulfilled and make the payment.

## Do-It-Yourself: Setting Up Your Badges

You can always set up your badges on your own. The script uses the `@hiveio/dhive` library to interact with the Hive blockchain and dynamically imports badge processing functions from the *badges* directory.

Automated Hive Badges - Open source

Dear Hive community,

In March 2023 we [announced](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@peak.open/announcing-the-development-of-peak-vault) the development of Peak Vault, a new Hive wallet.
Since then a lot has changed and we have exciting news to share with you.

The wallet itself has expanded significantly, necessitating its own dedicated proposal for further development. And on top of that we created a completely new type of wallet that will allow you to interact with Hive directly from your Metamask browser extension thanks to a new feature added to MetaMask itself: **[Snaps](https://metamask.io/snaps/)**.

Here we will outline our achievements over the past year and detail our future plans.

## Why a new wallet?
Peak Vault is a new wallet for Hive.
You might wonder, why do we need a new wallet? What's wrong with Keychain?
The answer is, nothing is wrong with Keychain. It’s an excellent wallet, which is why the vast majority of Hive users rely on it.
However the reality is that Keychain dominates the market not only thanks to its merits, but also due to the lack of a real alternative. In a decentralized system and a free market, people should have the freedom to choose and access different options. Decentralization provides safety and it encourages options and competition.

**That's why we built Peak Vault – to provide users with a choice.**
 
## Peak Vault - A one stop wallet for everything on Hive

Peak Vault, even still in beta version, can now fulfill its role of a standalone wallet: it can safely store private keys and sign transactions.

If constructing a wallet were like building a car, this would be like having a robust engine within a basic frame. It's a great starting point and the rest of the work that awaits us is aimed at making the driver as comfortable as possible. 
For this reason we built an intuitive interface and started integrating more high-level features, like an NFT page, which is a first for any Hive wallet. NFT support is currently limited to 3 projects at the moment, and we plan to integrate more in the future.

## Hive MetaMask Snap
Recently MetaMask has allowed third party developers to build snaps. A snap is an extension for your MetaMask wallet that adds some sort of functionality. We took the Peak Vault engine and integrated into MetaMask, making it possible to store Hive accounts and sign transactions.

It should be noted, however, that a snap is not a replacement for a dedicated wallet: storing keys and signing transaction is all it can do. Even for simple tasks like checking your balances you need to rely on a third-party website.

We don't expect community members to switch to MetaMask, but we believe that leveraging the most popular wallet could be a significant milestone in helping to onboard new users.

## Hive Wallet SDK
Having a new wallet and the ability to sign transactions from MetaMask sounds fantastic, but if you are a developer you are probably panicking reading this article. Integrating two new wallets into your dApp sounds like a nightmare!

Don't worry, we've got you covered. The [Hive Wallet SDK](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@peakd/hive-wallet-sdk) allows you to handle any wallet (Keychain, Peak Vault and MetaMask) without having to write duplicate code. Just ask the user which wallet they'd rather use and let our library handle tedious details. 

It's true, you still need to migrate your dApp from using only Keychain to the SDK, but think of it this way: once you're done you'll be supporting every Hive wallet, present or future.

The SDK is already fully functional and you can start migrating today, just run `npm install @peakd/hive-wallet-sdk` in your project.
 
## Proposal Funding Request

We are requesting **275 HBD per day** for the development of new features, UI improvements, and maintenance. This funding will be allocated for:
- **Peak Vault**
 - Hire reliable community members to audit the wallet
 - Improve UI and UX based on community feedback
 - In wallet staking and delegation
 - Integrate the Peak Notification System (Customizable Hive Notifications)
 - In-wallet swaps
 - Hardware wallet support (Ledger)
 - Add a contacts page
 - Improve NFT support and add more projects
 - Miscellaneous features and improvements

#### The other proposal - Peak Open projects mantainance, upgrades and small projects
This year, we have adopted a new strategy by separating our projects into individual proposals. Over the past two years, our team has achieved significant milestones, delivering valuable open-source tools, protocols, and applications for the Hive community. With the completion of over 10 projects, we are now lowering our funding request and taking a different approach with this latest proposal.

Our plan for this year includes keeping our existing projects running, maintaining and upgrading them, and working on a few new small projects for the Hive community, so we have created a separate proposal requesting **250 HBD per day**.

## Overall funding
The total funding requested for both proposals is 525 HBD per day, which is **175 HBD per day less** than last year's proposal.

Even with both proposals, we believe this approach is fair to the Hive community. Our overall workload is reduced, and we have streamlined our team and processes compared to previous years. This efficiency is why we are requesting less funding overall. **We do not support the trend of continuously increasing funding for never-ending projects.**

If the Hive community comes up with other projects and we have the capacity to expand our team and dedicate more time, we are open to taking on additional large projects and creating new proposals. However, we are currently content with our reduced funding request and believe it is in the best interest of both our team and the Hive community.
 
## Community Engagement
Our team is known for interacting very well with the Hive Community and getting suggestions and implementing them quickly.

##### Using Open Polls
We plan to use the Open Polls protocol more extensively to decide on areas for upgrades and new small projects throughout the year.

##### Feedback and Transparency
- Regular updates: we have posted [17 posts](https://peakd.com/@peak.open/) in the last ~11 months updating progress on different projects and will continue to do so.

# Peak Open Projects: Maintenance, Upgrades, and Small Projects Proposal

Dear Hive community,

over the past two years, our team has achieved significant milestones delivering valuable open-source tools, protocols and applications for the Hive community - [read this post](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@peak.open/year-review-for-peak-open-projects-12-projects). We have mostly completed the creation of the tools we originally set out to develop two years ago, as evidenced with 10+ different projects. Therefore, we are lowering our funding request and taking a different approach with this next proposal. 

**This year our plan is to:**
- Lower funding on the main proposal
- Maintain and keep these projects running. 
- Upgrade all these projects.
- Work on a few more small projects for Hive community.
- Split the proposal so our biggest remaining project is funded separately (no longer one big proposal that covers everything).
- Brainstorm and work on some new bigger projects and see if any are big enough for spin-off separate proposals.

## Proposal Breakdown

#### 1. Maintenance and Upgrades

We will prioritize the upkeep and enhancement of the following projects:

	- Work to get Chat integrated throughout the Hive ecosystem.

#### 2. Infrastructure Costs
 - Cover server and database expenses.
 - Ensure high availability and performance of all projects.

#### 3. Team Costs
 - Support a dedicated team of six contributors working flexible hours on various projects.
 - Provide compensation for maintenance, upgrades, and new small projects.
 - Focus efforts on promoting all projects, including integration into other Hive apps/websites.
	- Where possible marketing projects to benefit Hive community.

#### 4. New Projects

In addition to maintenance and upgrades, we will undertake small to medium sized development projects aimed at enhancing the Hive ecosystem. We have some ideas in mind, and each year we add several new projects as opportunities arise. We are confident this pattern can continue. 

We also plan to incubate large projects using this funding and present them to the Hive Community if they require more time and continued efforts.

 **Hive Badges** (Example #1)
This is a product already used by several Hive websites and we hope to *Open-source, standardize, and decentralize Hive badges*. We can make badges more useful and easier to integrate for Hive websites and much easier to create and interact with for users with more high quality badges.

 **Customized blogs and communities** (Example #2)
A simplified web platform focusing exclusively on community-generated content with customizable community pages.
 
## Proposal Funding Request

We are requesting **250 HBD per day** for the Maintenance and Upgrades of Peak Open Projects which will also fund some new Projects as discussed in the previous paragraph.

#### The other proposal - PeakVault a new Wallet Software

To ensure the project's success, we have created a separate proposal requesting **275 HBD per day**. This funding will allow us to focus on the continuous development, improvement, and integration of PeakVault within the Hive ecosystem.

## Q&A
**WHY ARE YOU LOWERING OVERALL FUNDING?**
One big part of this answer is our mind set for the Peak Open Projects: it's not a traditional business.
We do not view this as a business and none of our projects are developed with profit making structures. The funding isn't approached like a business that is trying to make money but instead funding is designed to have sufficient to cover costs of developers, administrative staff/stuff and enough to have a safety net. 

Even with the 2 proposals we are lowering overall request quite a bit because we have less projects and less work to do and aren't seeking a profit but to just comfortably cover costs.

**WOULD YOUR TEAM CONSIDER WORKING ON MORE?**
Yes, if the Hive community decides on more worthwhile projects we are happy to pivot, in fact we will incubate a few ideas and put in time and share a new proposal for the community. (Assuming we also have team members who may be passionate in it as well.) 

**ARE YOU AGAINST PROFIT MAKING?**
No we are not. This just the aim of Peak Open Projects and Hive Proposals in General.

In fact, there are members of our team that work on businesses like PeakD, RiseofthePixels and PeakMonsters. And even if they aren't large profit making endeavors they are fundamentally different than Peak Open Projects. 

Perhaps we will also have more time to work on PeakD.com and other business projects... which we hope will benefit the Hive Community.

Hello everyone!

Recently I fullfilled a wish of @peak.open about writing a review of the [Open Genie](https://genie.peakd.com/) platform. When I browsed further through the list of wishes, I saw there was another wish about writing a review, this time about the [Token Routes project](https://hivehub.dev/routes). Sorry for all these links, but I am sure they are worth mentioning so you can find all information you need. Now, let's find out what this **Token Routes project** is all about.

# What is Token Routes

In one of the articles of @peak.open, they describe their Token Routes project as follow: 
> **Moving from one token in one location to another token in a completely different place?? We have your tool.**

It's indeed a situation we all have experienced. As the crypto-space is growing everyday. New tokens and projects are being created while others are being buried. One of the problems is to swap a certain token to another token is often not that easy. Especially when we're talking about tokens with a smaller marketcap, it's not always that easy. If I get it right, the Tokens Routes project is a solution to this problem. Instead of having to do your own research in finding the most optimal route in terms of costs and fees, this project is doing it for you! Seems amazing, isn't it?

That's atleast what was my first impression, when starting to try out the tool myself, it's even better than I thought in the previous alinea. My first reflection would be that it would be utilizing a blackbox principle. But that's not true. The Tokens Routes project isn't chosing the route itself, it is proposing the most optimal route, together with some other possible ways as well. This way, the user still can choose himself which router he would like to take. I think this is way better than just providing a block-box route where you don't have any information. Kudos for presenting multiple ways!

# Team behind the project

Token routes is a project of the @peak.open projects. These are open source projects built by the PeakD team. If you're on Hive for a longer time, you'll definitely know these guys as they have built a lot on Hive. Like polls, sting chat to name a few. Definitely check out peak.open to get an idea which individuals are behind these projects! In my [previous post](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@stekene/open-genie-make-your-wishes-come-true-new-on-hive), I tagged the individuals behind Open Genie. I am not completely sure the team is exactly the same so I am not going to tag them here.

# How to utilize Token Routes

Firsly, you have to go to https://hivehub.dev/routes than you will see the following screen:

Let's break down what the different options are to fill in. To make it easier, I took a screenshot and numbered all the fields, like this:

**1) Amount:** Here you can add a number of tokens you'll want to swap.
**2) From:** In this field you have to choose the token you want to swap. To be clear, this is a token you have somewhere in a wallet at the start.
**3) To:** In this field you'll fill in the token you want to have after the swap.
**4) Located:** Here you need to add the locations of where your owned tokens are and where you want to get the desired tokens. These could be certain chains or centralized or decentralized exchanges.
**5) Max Steps:** Here you can add a maximum. Personally I just leave it at the 'best of each' option. Let the Token Routes propose me the most optimal route instead of I limiting it.
**6) Exclude locations and services:** Here you can excluse, so tell the Token Routes to not use a particular chain / exchange. Personally I haven't used this option so far. This could be chosen for example when there are some legal restrictions about a particular chain.
**7) Calculate routes:** Press this button when you're ready with your setup.

Personally, I am often swapping between hive and swap.hive and vice-versa. Usually I utilize beeswap but it will be interesting to see what Token Routes is proposing to me. As an example I will use the Token routes application to show me the most optimal routes to swap 100 Hive -> 100 swap.hive

After waiting about 5-10 seconds, the following routes were shown:

As you can see, the most optimal route at this moment in time is beeswap. Luckily it's the one I am utilizing nearly always. Although there's a remark to be made. The Token Routes is showing the most optimal route **at this moment in time**. So, it could be that a second later, there is another, better option.

When you click on a particular route, like for example the fourth optimal one, you get more details about the steps and the fees:

As you can see the Token Routes tool is really handy when you want to swap tokens from one to eachother. Especially if you're often swapping around a lot, it's definitely worth to check it out!

# Feedback

Before I head over to my own feedback, I saw in an [article](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@peak.open/token-routes-a-new-economic-tool-for-hive-users) of the team that they are looking to further improve the tool. Further updates which are planned amonst others are:

> * More data for better results
>* Speed improvements
>* More locations (More swap sites and LP pools on other chains)
>* More tokens
>* More UI upgrades
>* More customizations (Save routes and new filters)

When I visited the website for the first time, it didn't really show any information about what the project is about. I had to search myself to find some information. Luckily @peak.open has written some articles about the project themselves. But still, I would recommend to add some information to the webpage as well. If the information is there, than it's probably well hidden as I couldn't find it. I wrote down this feedback at the start of this article. After trying out the tool myself, I have to admit it's quite obvious. But still an alinea as 'introduction' what the goal of the tool is, would be nice in my opinion.

I know Token Routes is a project of the @peak.open Team, but I was wondering which individuals are working on this particular project. I couldn't find it. Here again, I am not sure if it's becuase I didn't search enough or info just isn't available. Ofcourse this isn't necessary, but I always like to know which individuals work on a tool / project I utilize. Could see it as a personal preference.

# Conclusion

In my opinion the Token Routes project is a great tool to find the most optimal swap route from one token to another. Especially if you're often swapping around decent amounts of tokens, it's good to know how the route with the smallest amount of fees could be found.

## A Recap of 10 Open Source projects

This is all the work since Peak Open Projects started. We will pay extra attention to projects that have been finished or worked on in the last year.

### **Projects Released this Year**
We were able to release some significant products last year and now it’s time to go into maintainance mode, with the ability to improve them with additional features.

#### ✅ **Open Polls Protocol**
One of our most recently launched projects that uses HAF technology to allow users to poll the Hive community with different style of polls and then calculate the votes in various ways (by number of votes or by Hive Power etc). This project still has several features we would like to continue working on. There are multiple ways to show the vote results and multiple ways to allow users filter the results. We also have a couple of vote types we can do.

#### 🧞‍♂️ **[Open Genie](https://genie.peakd.com/)**
Another recent project that we finished and released. This will allow the Hive community to find help working on projects. We hope that it's used a lot for coding projects but it can be used for quite a few other topics and tasks. It's kind of like a reverse Fiverr where someone is looking for help and those that can help respond.

Our own projects will be moving towards using this feature as it should help find help and set expectations and save costs as well.

#### 🚏 **Token Routes**
This project was created and deployed during this last year. It calculates the cost and result of going from one token to another in the various different locations. We focused on locations like Hive, Hive-engine and some popular exchanges like binance, coinbase, gemini. We also integrated swap sites like SimpleSwap. We gave it an interface on HiveHub.dev and can keep supporting it by adding more locations and tokens based on usage and feedback from the community.

#### 📣 **Notification System**
This was one of our earliest projects but this year we saw it updated and upgraded quite a bit through work with the Keychain team and @stoodkev ... a UI was created on Hive Keychain and we look forward to seeing it integrated into other sites (PeakD.com one of them) This project allows users to customize what types of Hive transactions notify them.

#### 🪙 **Tips Tracker** [WIP]
This feature was developed years ago as a partnership between peakd and a former hive developer. Now that this developer is no longer active on Hive and in attempts to open source and update this feature for usage by any hive UI that wants to use it we got a new developer to work on a project that integrates with HAF and can track both HIVE and Hive-engine type tips that are made on different posts.

#### 🔐 **Peak Vault** [WIP]
This is a new wallet software to help Hive be decentralized in it's dependence on Hive Keychain as the only wallet software that can sign transactions on a variety of websites. This is perhaps one of the biggest of projects. Quite a bit of work was done during this last year though it is mostly behind the scenes. However there are working wallet software that can already be downloaded and safely used either as stand alone wallet or also as wallet that can sign transactions on several websites. 

As part of our work on the new wallet we also created an SDK that can be used by dApp developers to easily support multiple wallets going forward (including Hive Keychain).

### Projects Upkept and Updated

#### 🐝 **Sting Chat**
An open source decentralized chat system for Hive was launched this last year and has even recently undergone a series of improvements for the notifications. There have been several websites implement Sting Chat into their website and we hope more find their way to using it.

#### 📊 **Chain and Community Stats**
This project was done the year before but might as well share it here as well
We created an open source page to share stats about Hive data...Then did another project to show data about communities. This year we updated it a little bit but the main developer switched to other projects. There is an opportunity to expand the stats projects even more but we are looking for more community involvement as to what they'd like to see.

#### 🪢 **Node Beacon** 
Several projects depend on Hive Node Beacon to understand the real time health of various Hive infrastructure like Nodes in particular. This project was started long before Peak Open Projects but in the last year or so was added to Peak Open Projects and has been updated quite a bit including lots of support for Hive-Engine infrastructure.

#### 🏭 **[HIVEHUB.dev](https://hivehub.dev)**
Peak Open was launched alongside HiveHub, a multi-application platform, all aimed at enriching the Hive ecosystem and continuously enhancing the user experience. Designed to serve both Hive users and non-users, it provides comprehensive information related to transactions, governance, and other blockchain-related statistics. Within the Hub, users can also access a variety of useful applications, including an internal market, token routes, and new polls. Below 3 of the projects supported by the Hub.

- **Block Explorer**
This was our very first project completed well over a year ago. We created an open source block explorer since the previous most used explorer was a dead project not being updated anymore. We focused quite a bit on making it a great user experience and layout. This last year we continued to improve it based on feedback from various projects and users.

- **Hive Internal Market UI**
We have made small upgrades this year but this was primarily finished in the previous year. This project is an open source UI that makes the HIVE-HBD internal marketplace easy to use. It has 3 ways to visualize the market place with varying levels of complexity.

- **Governance Pages with Stats**
This was mostly the first year but this last year we added some visualizations for the data for both Witness voting and for Proposal voting. This means you can see/visualize where the bulk of support is coming for both these parts of the hive ecosystem.

## **Coming up**
We will continue to support and update the projects we have already worked on. We also have a couple smaller projects we will start and finish this next year. Our biggest focus coming up will be the work done on the wallet software (Peak Vault)
With that said **we are open to feedback from the Hive community about projects that you would like to see worked on**.
We are excited to have **Polls** to get some feedback and **Open Genie** to help in this area as well.

## **Upcoming Proposal**
In the near future we will create one SMALL proposal to maintain and update most of these projects and then a SEPARATE proposal for finishing work on the wallet so that the Hive community has more than one choice to sign transactions on various Hive website/projects. 

All in all the funding for the future is expected to be greatly reduced... unless of course the Hive community suggests some valuable projects they would like Peak Open Projects to work on.

Hello everyone!
Today I discovered a new project on the Hive blockchain: [Open Genie](https://genie.peakd.com/). Let's have a look at what exactly it is. Afterwards I'll review it to help you getting started on their platform. I will conclude this article with my own opinion of the Open Genie platform. I hope you enjoy discovering and reading about this new project built on Hive!

# What is Open Genie?

Let's first have a look how the team behind Open Genie describes their own project:
> Open Genie is an innovative **online platform** that allows users to **post their wishes** and have them **fulfilled by a community of Genies**. Wish Makers can create a post with a description of their wish, a reward, optional milestones, a title, optional bids, and an optional thumbnail. Genies then bid on the wish, and the Wish Maker can choose a Genie to fulfill their wish. All payments are made directly between the Wish Maker and Genie through direct **transfers on the Hive blockchain** or whatever reward mechanism they decide on between each other. Open Genie is a **free platform** that ensures the **safety** of its users by **storing personal information on the Hive blockchain**, making it impossible for anyone to add, remove or edit that information except the end user.

I tried to mark the words which seem the most important to me. As you can read, it's an **online platform** which you can access by going to https://genie.peakd.com/ 

On that platform anyone who needs a certain service, is able to **create a wish**. This could be anything, like for example if you want a new avatar or if you want a new developer for your project or just because you're looking into someone who could rework your mariage photos or... These are just some examples and you can add whatever you want as a wish. Ofcourse, you have to be serious, so don't abuse it. 

Ofcourse just creating wishes wouldn't be that great if they were never fullfilled. Thus the platform is aiming to bring people who are in need of a certain service together with people who are able to deliver such a service. You could look at it like a **marketplace for services** centralized on the Open Genie platform. 

People who want a certain service could propose a price they want to pay if someone is able to deliver the service or they could let people bid for it. So yes, you could **get paid** for your work. These payments could be done over the Hive network which gives you the opportunity to complete these payments in no time without fees.

The whole **platform is free**. At this moment, I don't know how exactly the team behind Open Genie wants to benefit from this platform. As they have put their time and effort in it, my guess would be they somehow would like to benefit sooner or later from it. Maybe they are just desperately in search of certain profiles and hope to find them through their platform, I don't know. This is ofcourse just speculation of my part.

Besides the payments which could be made through the Hive Blockchain, the **information is stored on the Hive Blockchain** as well. So anything which is posted or commented will be stored on the Hive blockchain and could be seen by others. This way there is transparency and it's not possible to change certain aspects.

# Team behind Open Genie

Open Genie is a project of the @peak.open projects. These are open source projects built by the PeakD team. If you're on Hive for a longer time, you'll definitely know these guys as they have built a lot on Hive. This about polls, sting chat to name a few. The individuals behind Open Genie are the following:

I recognize most of them from Hive and their posts, but don't know them personally. If you want to get to know them, you should reach out to them though their profile. That would make more sense than me just making up some random information about them.

# How to create a wish

Let's have a look how you can create your own wish. The first step is to login. This can be easily done by clicking on login and than utilizing the keychain application. Don't forget to accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. All you need is a Hive account.

Now that we're logged in, we're good to go to create your first own wish. To do so, you have to click on 'Make a Wish'. Like you can see on the image below:

Afterwards, you'll see the following screen:

Here you can add some parameters of your wish:
**1) Wish title**: The title of your wish, how would you describe it shortly
**2) Choose a category**: Here you can add a category, which makes it easier for people to filter. For example if you're a developer you'll want to search on development wishes. As Open Genie is still being optimized, you can still sugest some categories.
**3) Wish Description**: In this field you can explain what exactly you're looking for. Some background information, some ideas, ... You can write it all down here.
**4) Thumbnail image**: People are usually more attracted when there are some images added as well. Add a relevant, nice picture here.

When you scroll down, you'll see there are some more advanced parameters as well:

Here you can add some extra, more advanced parameters of your wish:
**A) Tags**: You can add tags, if people search on Hive utilizing a certain tag, they'll find your wish easier.
**B) Genie Requirements**: You can add certain requirements, are there any skills you want the Genie to have? Certain degrees or certificates, you can ask for them here.
**C) Publish your wish as comment in a post and not as top level post**: This means that you can post it as a comment or as a post. If it's a post, it could trigger automatic votes and these posts will appear on your post feed. If it's as a comment, it won't fill your personal post feed.
**D) Currency**: You can choose in which currency you'll pay the genie.
**E) Budget**: You can show the amount of the currency you selected you'll use to pay the Genie.
**F) Price Discovery**: If you just want to let the potential genies make an offer, you can cross this box.
**G) Create wish**: Click this button to publish your wish upon people could see it and potential Genies could appear.

Congratulations, you made your first wish!

# How to fullfill a wish

Besides creating our own wishes, we ofcourse want to see if we could help out others. For doing so, you could get paid, which is great! You help others and for doing so, you could earn some of your favourite tokens!

Click on 'Wishes' as you can see in the follwing image:

Now you'll see a list of wishes as you can see below:

On top of the screen, you can filter on categories. As explained before, the platform is still in development and new categories will be added. It's even a wish to come up with new categories, so if you want to make some free Hive, go and explore!

Afterwards you'll see all the wishes, their thumbnail picture, category, title, author of the wish, the amount of the payment and if it's still open or already assigned. My advice would be to have a look at https://genie.peakd.com/wishes yourself and see if you could help others out. 

When you click on a particular wish, you'll find more information about the particular wish:

You'll find more text about what it is and some background information. As well as the budget available for the wish. 

I marked one button in red as you could get more information. For example if something is not clear or maybe you want to negotiate about the budget or... Than you could click on **Express interest or Ask Questions**.

You see a text window will appear where you're able to type whatever you like. Afterwards click on **Submit Comment** and your question will be published on the Hive blockchain as a comment. You can utilize this text window to show interest as well, just answer something in the sense of: I would like to be your genie.

# First impressions

In general I think this is a great platform. Like I described it at the beginning, I see it as a marketplace for services powered by the Hive blockchain. This is definitely great. There are quite some folks on Hive of which everyone has some unique talents. If we could help eachother out, it will make Hive an even better place. 

One suggestion I have is that it would be made possible to add pictures when pressing on the button 'Express interest or Ask Questions'. I tried to copy a picture in the text field but that didn't work. This ofcourse is just something minor but still it would add some userfriendlyness.

Overall I think this is a great addition to the Hive ecosystem as it's something which has usecases transcending just Hive, crypto or blockchain. So, I would definitely advise anyone to go and visit https://genie.peakd.com/ !

In order to further support the community, we've put together a step by step tutorial on how to utilize Open Genie, whether you're seeking a genie or aiming to be one.

## Seeking a Genie?

Seeking for a genie to fulfill your wishes is easy.

### Step 1: Visit the Make a Wish section

First, login to the [Open Genie](https://genie.peakd.com/) platform and navigate to the [Make a Wish](https://genie.peakd.com/make_wish) tab to access the interface where you can input the details of your wish.

### Step 2: Provide details of your wish

Within the make a wish tab, you will find fields such as Wish Title, Description, Thumbnail, and Payment (can be bids or specified HIVE/HBD). Fill in these details, ensuring that your wish is described comprehensively to aid interested genies in understanding it. 

You may also choose to include tags to help improve the searchability of your wish.

Once you've filled in your wish details, click **Create Wish** to publish it. Now, you'll need to wait for genies from the Hive community to respond or ask questions about your wish.

### Step 3: Manage your wish status: Assign genie or close wish

To update the status of your wish, click the **Seeking a Genie** button in the wish info section.

Upon clicking, you can either assign a genie from the list of interested users or retract your wish.

## Want to become a Genie?

If you are looking to fulfill the wishes of the Hive community, this section is for you! Similar to making a wish, looking for wishes to fulfill is also easy and can be done in few steps as illustrated below.

### Step 1: Go to Wishes tab and read through the list of wishes

Navigate the [wishes](https://genie.peakd.com/wishes) section by clicking on the Wishes tab to browse through a list of wishes.

Upon redirection, you will see the list of wishes that you might be interested to fulfill.

To make your life a lot easier, don't forget to use filters to narrow down your search. 

For example, if we are just interested in wishes related to programming, we can filter it based on that. The wish list that we have to go through is just these three instead of going through a lot of wishes that we are not interested in fulfilling.

### Step 2: Review Wish Details

From the list of programming wishes above, we are for example interested in [Hive-Engine API Development](https://genie.peakd.com/@rishi556/hive-engine-api-development-1715295144280). All we have to do is to click on that to see the additional information about the wish that the creator added.

Now we can see more information about the wish. In this case, these are the exact details and scope for this Hive-Engine API Development project. 


### Step 3: Express interest or Ask questions

Let's say you are interested in fulfilling the wish or you have clarifications. All you have to do is click on the **Express Interest or Ask Questions** under Wish Status then this pop-up will show.

Simply input what you want to say to the creator in the field (whether to express interest or ask a question) then click Submit. Note that your comment on the wish will be publicly visible.

At this point, you and the wish creator will continue the discussion if there are other information needed. If the wish creator chooses to assign you as the genie for their wish, you will be notified accordingly.

## WHAT IS OPEN GENIE?
An open source website created by @peak.open for the Hive community (and all of crypto) to post new projects you want help with. Projects you need help with and can fund some work large to small (from logo design to photography to website development). 

*It's kind of a reverse Fiverr where you indicate your needs first and then users come to you indicating interest.*

## HOW IT WORKS
1. Users sign up to be "Genies" and select categories of expertise
2. A Wish is posted by someone needing help with a project
3. Genies are notified and then interact with the wish maker
4. Wish maker selects someone to work with and has some discussion with them
5. Wish is filled (aka project completed) 
6. Genie is paid

## PERKS OF THE SITE
This project https://genie.peakd.com/ is built on Hive blockchain and was funded by the Hive Community and as such there are lots of perks.
- First off it's an **open protocol and open source** so if other Hive projects want to impliment this into their site or a part of it they can and it's encouraged we do not need to have a monopoly on our site.
- Also **it's FREE**... we do not have any need to monetize our implementation. This means there is no cut taken between Wish Maker and Genie.
- Because of the connection to HIVE/HBD you can make **wishes as big or as small as you want**. MicroPayments is something Fiverr and other similar sites can't compete with.

- A perk for the HIVE COMMUNITY could be the p**otential inflow of outside user**s who want to add projects or fill projects and find the site and in so doing get a Hive account and perhaps find joy in the other things Hive blockchain has to offer. Helping this community funded project is a way to help all of Hive and gives us a unique, free and exciting product to offer all of Crypto.

## LEADING UP TO MAY 13th
We have been building and testing and are ready for a fresh release.
We have been playing around on the site already, it's not hidden, and is completely usable. Go give it a shot. https://genie.peakd.com/

Already users on the Peak Projects discord have been in there helping us test. We have fixed bugs and smoothened out the experience and made some plans for some future upgrades based on feedback and even set up wishes in search of bugs and feedback.

On the 13th we will clear all the wishes (many are test wishes) and we will open it up to everyone and promote it even more.

## RELEASE CELEBRATION
To celebrate the release we are going to help pay for some of the communities Wishes. So on the 13th create a wish and respond to our wish you'll see on the site. As stated earlier the DB of wishes will be reset but all your drafts will be saved for quick release on the 13th.

So start thinking now about what wishes you're going to post on OPEN GENIE

As mentioned earlier we have been testing the site quite a bit and getting feedback from users. We have also posted many wishes and have successfully closed dozens of wishes. Specially using the Duplicate wish feature we were able to do several wishes that multiple Genies could fulfill.

You can go check out the site https://genie.peakd.com/ even now. Test it out make a test wish... we will be resetting everything on May 13th and we plan to launch with a bunch of wishes that day of our own in support of @peak.open projects and more.

The @peak.open team released polls last month and has continued to work on upgrading the Polls protocol. 
From the start,	 [PeakD.com](peakd.com) supported showing the results of polls and letting users vote... and now we have more upgrades to Polls.

# **ABILITY TO CREATE A POLL**
The PeakD team has now added ability to create a poll straight from the PeakD.com UI.
Ability to create a polls is also available on https://hivehub.dev/polls and Ecency.com 
(hopefully more sites integrate it soon as well)

# **HOW TO CREATE A POLL**
#### 1. Choose "create a poll" on drop down

#### 2. Similar to a regular post but with poll options

1. Write like you would a normal post... make the title the main question. You can further clarify your question.
2. Add poll choices for the voters
3. These are advanced options for the polls. POLL DURATION is the most likely one to change. 
(Vote interpretation will soon have ability to choose votes counted by total HP of the voters)

# **WHAT'S COMING FOR POLLS**
The @peak.open team recently finished work on **adding ability to see vote results based on HP of the votes** and some smaller changes to the Protocol to do some features requested by the @ecency team. They also finished up ability to allow multiple selections on a poll... no UI has supported this new feature yet and we're going to work on this next.

Creating a POLL using PeakD.com

v3.3 is now live on Chromium and Firefox (see the previous Beta announcement [here](https://peakd.com/keychain/@keychain/hive-keychain-v23-beta-vesting-routes-security-and-transaction-exports) for further details), and v3.4 is now coming to Beta with two new features.
You can help us test the Beta (see Joining the Beta, below) or wait until this goes to production.

## Open Peak Notifications

We've been working for a while with the @peak.open team to integrate their notification feature into Keychain. Compared to the chain notification system, it allows a greater flexibility and the possibility to receive notification on much more different transaction types.

Since Peak Open Notifications hasn't been used in production yet, we've added a small "experimental" badge next to the feature. Don't hesitate to contact us if you find any issue.

It's as easy as it gets to enable it, just go to Settings > User operations > Notifications, and enable it.

By default, you will get the following notifications : 
- Incoming transfers 
- Incoming votes
- Incoming delegations
- Mentions
- Replies
- Follow/Unfollow
- Reblog
- Conversion received
- Market order received
- Recurrent transfer received
- Interests received
- Power down completed
- Failed recurrent transfer

On top of this, you can click on Open Advanced Settings and personalize it to your heart's content.

Big thanks to @asgarth and @muwave for helping us integrate the feature and iterating with us.

## Onboarding tutorial

To better welcome new users, we've prepared a simple tutorial website at https://tutorial.hive-keychain.com.
It will redirect you automatically to the extension or mobile version of the tutorial according to your device.
This leads to a 9-steps (for now) tutorial about Keychain and Hive in general, that we are looking forward to improve thanks to your valuable feedback.

Upon first installing the extension (and later on the mobile Apps as well), users will be asked if they want to read the tutorial. We decided to show it once to all current users as well since some might be new and want to better understand the ecosystem.

The tutorial is also accessible from the Settings > Help > Tutorial.

## Joining the Beta

- Download (or update) Hive Keychain Beta
- Export your accounts from the production version and import them into the Beta version
- Disable (do not delete) the production version by toggling it off on your "Extensions" page
- Have fun testing! Use Keychain as usual, try the new features and if you feel adventurous, try to break things!
- Share your feedback/ bug reports on Discord, in the #extension-beta channel
- When you want to switch back to the production version simply toggle it on, and toggle off the Beta version

We previously announced the [Initial version of Open Polls Protocol](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@peak.open/open-polls-protocol-initial-version) which aims to give the Hive community a way to vote (do a poll) on Hive that every single UI can easily integrate with, has an advanced analytics features, multiple voting qualifications, and filters. We're excited to announce that the Polls feature is now available through the HiveHub interface!

*Many interfaces will be adding support for polls however at a minimum you can vote using https://hivehub.dev/polls **PeakD.com** has also finished their integration for seeing the results and for voting however to create a poll we still suggest hivehub.dev/polls*

**WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT FIRST ITERATION OF POLLS**

- 30 day polling limit on our interface to start with (Can be changed later)
- There is an ability to filter by account age
- Right now the only voting interpretation is Votes by Accounts.
- Next feature will be staked HIVE voting
- There will be other voting interpretation
- We also hope to have other voting styles ... right now it's ONE VOTE multiple choice.
- PeakD.com is ready to release ability to VOTE and to see RESULTS
- Ecency is also working with the @peak.open team to release something soon as well
- Open Polls uses the HAF technology developed by the @blocktrades team

## How does it work?

### Creating a Poll
**Creating a poll** is EASY. 
1. Simply navigate to the Polls feature under Tools on HiveHub, 
2. then click on the ``Create a New Poll`` button. 
3. After that, the *Create a New Poll* window will pop-up, then you simply have to fill out the input fields with the corresponding information. 
It's that simple!

You will also be given an option to ``Customize Hive post content``. From here, you have a couple of options to choose from to customize the poll to your own liking such as Thumbnail URL, Community, and Tags.

### Viewing other Polls

Navigating through the Polls interface is quite straightforward. You can see all the polls created by the Hive community once you go to the [Polls UI on HiveHub](https://hivehub.dev/polls).

From there, you will also have an option to sort the list by clicking on the column headers (e.g. by Creation Date, End Date, Total Votes). 

**FILTERS**

If you want to see the polls based on specific criteria such as Post Title, Poll Question, Post Author, and Author, you can use the Filter functionality as shown in the example below.

This should help you easily see polls that are more relevant to you, especially when there are already a lot of polls created by the Hive community!


**VIEWING SPECIFIC POLLS**

*Want to see more details about a specific poll?* Of course you can! 

If you want to see more details about a specific poll, you simply have to click on the *Question* for that poll, and then a new window will load containing more information such as the current votes, tags, and additional information.

The example below is for a test poll about phone brands used. As you can see, an analytics of the voting and results is shown upon clicking of the poll question, as well as the tags and additional information.
