These digital badges are automatically awarded to accounts **who have never powered down HIVE** based on their **staked Hive Power (HP)**.

Each badge symbolizes a tier of commitment and resilience, styled in a unified **modern-fantasy visual theme**.

While it may not be for everyone There is a certain segment of the Hive community that takes pride in having never powered down their Hive Power. This new badge series is designed to celebrate their commitment and resilience. We recognize that powering down is a personal choice and an important part of Hive’s flexibility, so this badge is simply a way to honor those who have chosen to stay powered up continuously without implying any judgment on those who power down from time to time.

# EDIT YOUR IMAGES

There have been other models that will use images to inspire the next image you create.
What KONTEXT does is use your image itself and not just for inspiration. You can ask for specific edits or still be able to tell it to use it as inspiration which is it's primary use case.

Usually you just need to rt click "Copy Image Address" put that into the URL and then ask for a request.

In about 20 seconds and 5 cents it's all done. You don't have to get an expensive monthly subscription to photoshop and 20 minutes of work. You don't need an expensive phone. Also it's kind of better at it in a fast and quick way. Now if you're really particular and you want the full sized that's a different story because the size of the output from kontext is good for online usage not high end printing. 

I was a full time photographer for 13+ years... i have used those other products. I can tell you this is pretty impressive.... at most things. And you can be super creative as well

# COST AND HBD

The service we use has a fee this is not one we can offer for free. We hope it's pretty small. Compared to what you get out of it it's likely a great cost.

And one of the best things is that we have another use for micropayments that HIVE blockchain can offer allowing for a 0.05HBD payment. 

You may subscribe to an ai service that has this ability and maybe it's limited or maybe it's not. But you could do dozens of these every month and still not pay even a fraction of what some of the other services charge. And you're using your crypto with no need for a credit card.

Recently, We have had some in depth conversation with the @blocktrades team. They proposed a unique way on how to achieve some objectives we both shared for Hive. How to further decentralize Hive and how to do one of our projects for the upcoming year while at the same time assisting a technology that could benefit the greater Hive community. 

## WEB COMPONENTS
@BlockTrades team member @mtyszczak recently introduced a set of Hive Web Components, which are modular "building blocks" designed to easily display Hive content, (such as but not limited ot: posts, comments, tags, or witness information). Instead of many different website developers needing to build custom integrations with Hive from scratch. When the project is done these components will let developers more easily copy-paste a small snippet of code, instantly embedding rich Hive content that automatically handles interactions like voting, commenting, and account information and then they style it the way they want.

The Peak Open team has decided collaborate on this project and be the first big tester of the new technology. 
While this is not the simplest approach, it will be the approach that has the potential if successful to benefit Hive itself. If these two teams working together succeed it can help Make Hive content and actions easier for anyone building on Hive. This approach can make it simpler and faster for new future projects and websites to join Hive’s ecosystem. This means more visibility, adoption, and innovation across Hive as a whole, benefiting the entire community.

## WHAT THIS MEANS TO THE PROPOSAL
It means more of our time (Specially at the beginning) will be spent doing more collaborative development work with other teams and assisting them with their goals that can in turn help ours. It also means that we will be spending more time on foundational technology before we get to the exciting stuff you guys may be waiting for like the customizable PeakD like sites. It does mean a time delay.

However not much really changes in our end objective. We will still build a full customizable hive site for users. We will still be able to upkeep and upgrade our other projects and we'll be able to do a couple of our other new projects. However it may take a bit more time since we're essentially adding a new project to our proposal.

There is still a chance that this new approach may not be sufficient to the needs of a customizable site and all parties will want to keep evaluating this.

# BUY IN FROM THE COMMUNITY
In our last post there were so many great ideas and opinions about the use cases for a customizable website. There are obviously many other things we plan on for this year. We still want your ideas and for you to share what you're excited about.

One of the projects listed in the proposal from @peak.open team is to create a site built on Hive that is customizable.  We will be pulling on our experience building [peakd.com](http://peakd.com) to build something that could be very interesting for users.

We are curious what you would envision being some of the popular use cases of a project like this? They will have access to custom URL, custom layout, custom settings.

**CUSTOM SETTINGS**

There may be Hive/Peakd features that these companies or writers aren't in need of. Or they can still choose to include them. They can decide how socially connected their website or not. Maybe for them they just want a website for their content backed by blockchain technology.

They may not want:

- Reward pool voting
- Hive governance links
- Badges
- Snaps
- Page Views or Votes
- Wallet
- Hive stats (RC, KE, REP, Voting mana, etc)
- Separate pages for Replies, comments, subscriptions, map view etc

*Example: A company (like even a local restaurant) may love the permanence of the blockchain and hopefully the ease of setting up we can create and they may love that when they write content for their company it goes on to several different social sites like peakd.com, **[ecency.com](http://ecency.com)**, **[hive.blog](http://hive.blog)** and others and Hive users can interact through all these locations. However when they send their own users and viewers to view their posts or they link on Google Maps they may not want some high level Hive features there like votes and reward pool and downvotes. They may not want the distractions of having hive governance stuff on the same site. They could opt to just turn off some of that stuff on their custom site. Obviously Hive users will still have access to them on all those other sites.  Hive could still get their content and perhaps they bring new users as well.*

How would You use a Customizable site on Hive?

Dear Hive community,

Over the past 8 years, our team has consistently worked to deliver the best possible user experience to our users and the Hive community. Over the years we expanded our work to include **open source projects** on top of what we do for PeakD.com.

Last year we tried to break down our work into 2 separate proposals, this method of proposals didn't have as much support as we hoped for. This year we decided to go back to one singular and yet even more grand proposal with a broader scope even including  our recurrent work to keep PeakD up to date with the Hive blockchain development and to provide a top notch user experience to Hive users.

## Proposal Breakdown

#### 1. New Projects

**Individual User Stats**  The individual user stats being added to the Hive Open Stats project. This has been planned for a while but in terms of the stats project it will have the highest complexity and cost compared to Blockchain stats, Community Stats and Badge stats which we have already done.

**A new customizable UI/Blog system for Hive** While some of the other special projects for this year are more obvious this one deserves a bit more attention.

Think of a PeakD.com style interface however for the individual user they will be able to customize the look and many many aspects of the experience so they can have a place for their content and their viewers to come that really fits them. A place they can really call home for them and their viewers and friends or family.

We believe there is very much a place for Hive interfaces like PeakD.com and Ecency.com and Hive.blog where there is a bit more of an entire Hive community feel. However there needs to be other places where you can bring your own people and have it be a place for just you and them and powered by the impressive technology of Hive.

We also believe that it brings great value to Hive as they create great content that will ALSO be available on all those other interfaces.

With this new project they will be able to bring their own URL and Setup should be easy and cheap. We will provide an option to host these sites for users as well. We look forward to a day that this could be so popular that there will be many teams doing the same thing because Hive is so popular and this use case is so popular.

This will be OPEN SOURCE and while this may have similarities to the popular PeakD.com interface this will be a brand new project and codebase. We will take a lot of what we learned has worked from projects like PeakD.com also our knowledge of our work there will make this much easier to accomplish while still doing all the other things we identified we will still keep doing.

**A more robust and Hive based system for ads**   More details about this will be shared later on in a dedicated post. One important element is that it should work for all Hive dApps and websites.

#### 2. PeakD Upgrades and Maintenance

We have improved and upgraded PeakD for many years and we plan to keep doing so in the future. With the help of this proposal we can spend even more time **integrating external community driven open source projects**. Testing and leveraging and this effort helps make our and other groups projects shine.

Examples: Recently we have been the first frontend to integrate a [VSC wallet page](https://peakd.com/wallet/vsc) and we are leveraging HAF and HafSQL to provide new custom features on top of what is usually available via Hive standard API nodes. ##### 3. Open Source Projects

- **[HiveHub.dev and Block Explorer](https://gitlab.com/peakd/hivehub.dev)** A comprehensive block explorer for the Hive ecosystem, covering transactions, governance, the internal market, and integrated webapps.
- **[Open Polls Protocol](https://gitlab.com/peakd/hive-open-polls)** A decentralized system for creating and managing polls on Hive, enabling verifiable and transparent voting with public results.
- **[Hive Node Beacon](https://beacon.peakd.com/)** A directory of active Hive blockchain nodes, offering real-time node health and connection status for Hive and Hive Engine. Recently integrated with VSC nodes.
- **[Hive Open Stats](https://gitlab.com/peakd/hive-open-stats)** Aggregates and displays statistics for the Hive chain, communities, and badges.
- **[Hive Badges](https://peakd.com/badges)** A system for awarding automatically Hive badges to celebrate miletones or achievements. Badges are showcased on user profiles via PeakD.
- **[Open Genie](https://gitlab.com/peakd/open-genie)** A decentralized and open source platform where users can request services, and the community collaborates to fulfill those wishes.
- **[Token Routes](https://gitlab.com/peakd/token-routes-backend)** A protocol that finds the best routing for Hive and non-Hive tokens across the ecosystem.
- **[Notification System](https://gitlab.com/peakd/peak-notification-system)** Delivers real-time notifications for Hive events. Integrated with Hive Keychain to alert users to comments, votes, transfers, and more.
- **[Tips Tracker](https://gitlab.com/peakd/hive-open-tips)** Monitors and displays tipping activity throughout the Hive network.
- **[Sting Chat](https://gitlab.com/peakd/sting-message-backend)** A decentralized chat app for Hive. Supports encrypted private messaging and community channels.

*Note: notably the PeakVault Wallet project is not listed above. Considering the lack of support in last year proposal we are winding down our effort to upkeep and improve it. However it was released and does presently function as a viable secondary wallet option for Hive web/dApps.*

#### 3. Infrastructure Costs

- Cover server and database expenses.
- Ensure high availability and performance of all projects.

#### 4. Team Costs

- Support a dedicated team of 4-5 contributors working flexible hours on various projects.
- Provide compensation for maintenance, upgrades, and new small projects.
- Focus efforts on promoting all projects, including integration into other Hive apps/websites.

## Overall funding

We suspect we will get more done than any previous year and we still will have a smaller budget than 2023-2024 We are also much more experienced and capable of building better projects than ever.

We are asking for **635HBD/Day**.

Again this work towards maintaining previous projects, upgrading them as well... then adding in several very cool new projects. If you believe this to be a solid value for Hive we ask for your vote.

 **HOW TO USE THE NEW EDITOR**

We know that a lot of users have had many years of learning and then becoming very comfortable with Markdown style post writing. However it is not an intuitive or helpful form of writing for a majority of the population. Forcing new users to learn markdown causes friction to their new user experience. We are aiming to solve this with giving users an option of a **NEW WRITING EDITOR**

This guide will help you get comfortable with the new **block-based** writing experience on PeakD. We will walk through the core features step-by-step, starting with how content is structured and how you can create and edit it. 

## **Block-Based Editor: "Writing in Pieces You Can Control"**

The foundation of the new editor is a **block-based architecture**.

That means every piece of content you create — whether it’s a paragraph, an image, a heading, or even a quote — is stored and handled as a **separate, independent block**.

Here’s why that matters:

- Each element can be **individually managed** — added, removed, rearranged
- It allows **modular editing**, making the writing experience faster and more intuitive
- Enables powerful features like **drag-and-drop sorting** ... including images.
- IMAGES on posts: Visually seeing images in the edit and being able to move images with drag and drop was one of the main glaring weaknesses of markdown editors.

## **Menu Controls: Create and Edit Blocks with Ease**

Now that you know what blocks are, let’s look at how to use them in the editor.

#### **➕ Block Insertion Menu**

Hover on a block and a small floating menu appears. Click the **plus (+)** button to open the **block menu** and insert new content like:

- Headings
- Images
- Quotes
- Dividers
- Code blocks
- …and more!

It's been quite a bit of time since we turned off ads however we had a few people ask so it's worth sharing a post about the experience.

Here's our post as to why we believed the ad system wasn't worth the inconvenience to the viewers. ADs was not meant to be a revenue generator for PeakD itself but hoped it would benefit all of Hive and the bought and burned Hive would help the ecosystem. We feel there is more benefit to Hive having an AD free PeakD. If the revenues were larger that would have been an easier decision, however they weren't so it was a pretty easy decision. In short... the ad system never generated even more than the labor-cost to develop it.

**CHALLENGES**
We knew there was a bunch of things stacked up against us for ads on PeakD.com

- Majority of visitors on mobile
- Majority of visitors from low ad revenue countries
- No strong central theme to connect to a certain theme of ads
- A good amount of our own users use Brave or ad blockers

We could have done things to improve number of ad impressions... however the value per ad (CPM) just wasn't great.

Yes we used Google Adsense which is historically one of the lower paying options however we figured it would give us a good idea. In fact we worked with a team that helped us make a bunch of changes to our implementation to improve the system.  Yes it was making money but it just wasn't worth it to the community. Yes we could have continued to tweak it and improve the CPM however it had a long way to go to be at the point we figured would be useful. 

There weren't a lot of impressions and we could have worked to figure that out even if a good chunk of visitors go to communities these days or feeds (where we didn't put ads) and we could have added ads to more pages but even so if we had increased those impressions the CPM just wasn't going to be useful. 

**NEVER ADS?**
We think there is a place for ads. In fact our own ad bid system on PeakD has continued to be used plenty over the years and could deserve more attention and imporvements and likely could have more impact than something like Adsense. As far as AD networks we know they would perform better when the ad fits in better with content. They would likely fit in better with large communities... when communities or particular pages start to get thousands of views each day it would be worth looking into with some partnership with the communities. 

So in short... we are not against ads. And we won't say NEVER... however right now it's for sure not worth it. 

We think an internal HIVE based system would make most sense right now. 

**FOCUS FOR FUTURE**
In the meantime we would like to focus on an increase of viewership (we'd love to see communities get many multiples of what they are getting now and hope we can be a big part of helping that happen) and like mentioned previously an improvement of the internal Hive based ad bid system. Perhaps encouragement to develop something that can be used by many other interfaces.

We’re super excited to share a big update we’ve been working on for a while: a brand new **rich visual text editor** for your favorite decentralized social media app and with some time and creativity we built on the [Tiptap](https://tiptap.dev/product/editor) framework! We were able to Customize it to work on the Hive blockchain experience.

We know many of you have gotten very used to doing your own markdown formatting on posts over the years. However it's a unique skillset and we want a system that works for people from all walks of life. Maybe you will enjoy it yourself.

# AI IMAGES - MORE FREE

We have introduced a new high quality FREE model. HiDream

It's high enough quality we are making it the default. 



- Hidream (FREE Every 9 Seconds)
- HiDream (.002HBD)
- Ideogram v3 (.085 HBD)
- Ideogram v3 Turbo (.05 HBD)
- Venice SD35 (FREE timed or .002HBD)

Ideogram is great at graphic design and text and worth it if that's your aim. Venice is fast and cheap but no text. HiDream does text and is solid though not as good as a couple of the other models... but still towards top.

The image at the head of the post was created with state of the art OpenAI image model. We released that a bit ago and it's been amazing for understanding the implications of your prompt. Notice how it knows what the Hive blockchain logo looks like. Almost no other models would be able to do that.

There will be a limit of 1 every 10 minutes... because it is meant primarily just for users who have no tried the system yet and want to test it out a few times.

The model is normally .004HBD per image and you can still choose that option and you won't have a time limit or quantity limit.

We never create just one image...

We normally run the same prompt maybe 3-4 times with a couple different models usually with a quantity of 2 and often because we have text we're using the models like recraft or ideogram which means prices range from .03hbd to .09hbd an image so it's not cheap but having a bunch of options helps us get a good thumbnail or a good image for a snap.

# Does Hive Want a Second Functional Wallet Option Besides Hive Keychain?

We are reaching out to the Hive community to ask a simple but important question:

**Does Hive want a second functional wallet option besides Hive Keychain? If so... why? how much?**

## Current Situation

Right now, Hive Keychain is the primary wallet used across the ecosystem. While it offers great value, it also creates a "single option" dependency for most users interacting with Hive dApps/websites. 

**Peak Vault**, an alternative wallet, is available but its broader adoption and future development depend on community feedback and support. Up to this point the development proposal to support the development has not received enough support:

- **Developer-Ready**: A wallet-agnostic SDK is available to help any app easily integrate Peak Vault. However, widespread adoption requires more apps to implement this option.

- A modest funding request of under 50,000 HBD if fully funded for the remaining 182 days.

## What Would Funding Do?

1. **Compensate Past Work**: Pay a key developer who worked passionately on Peak Vault without full funding.
2. **Enable Small Updates**: Provide resources for community-requested updates or features.
3. **Support Open-Source Projects**: Refund @peak.open for upfront costs, enabling the development of other open-source projects.

## What Funding Does NOT Mean

- **No Excessive Costs**: We do not expect high compensation moving forward. Building a second wallet is already a valuable step for Hive’s ecosystem.
- **Community-Driven Approach**: The team would consult the community on future features to prioritize what matters most.
- **No Software Audit**: Unfortunately the proposal has not been funded for the best part of the year and we'll not be able to move forward with the 3rd party "software audit" we had planned for this project. 
- **No focus on Metamask Wallet**: While it's essentially done the focus is likely going to be on Peak Vault primarily at this point of reduced funding.

#### **Amazing Community Support!** 
We were very encouraged by the overwhelming support to test ads that came from the peakd user base. We were also surprised to see no comments on Discord or elsewhere complaining about the ads, especially considering how often such changes spark discussions or concerns in online communities. Perhaps because our users read that this was a test, or perhaps because you all know that the funds earned through ads will be used to buy and burn HIVE... or perhaps just because our users never saw the ads. Regardless we are encouraged.

**OUR FEEDBACK FROM ADS TEST ONE**
To be honest the first test economically would have not helped Hive much at all... not nearly enough to justify keeping ads it and we would have removed ads all together. Without great improvement this next test could be our final test. If this approach doesn't work out we may abandon the ads pursuit. However we have reasons to believe/hope that the changes we did may be enough to bring significantly better results that should make a good impact on Hive. *We understand the site is operating with some limitations to ads (as described at end of post) but we think even with those we can have enough success to make an impact on Hive and HIVE.*

YOUR FEEDBACK
We are adding logged in users into the test in part to get more data but also to get more feedback. There are many things we could do to tune the experience and perhaps to give some controls over the experience so it's not simply ALL or NOTHING. Instead of guessing what users would want we will let you share what you think would be helpful. Perhaps an ad size or placement could be tweaked to make you appreciate it even more... let us know. 

Also we hope you have a very noticeable improvement of ad quality ... we have noticed this but our team is a small sample size

#### **A Different Approach** 
Our first run through test with Ads on PeakD for visiting users was very insightful and we learned a lot. Thanks to the support we've received, the insights we've gained, and the potential we see to help HIVE, we are moving forward with another test. We won't continue to test forever, ads need to make a real impact on the HIVE economy or we will likely discontinue.  However we need to give ads a more fair shot by improving their quality and placement and try testing with users.

We still do not put ads on many different pages but we have added them to a couple of feeds as well as the posts themselves. 

#### **Working With a New Partner**
In the meantime we started consulting with a new ads company. They have helped to identify what can be done to increase effectiveness of ads on the pages we have chosen to test. They have a vested interest in seeing us succeed and our experience has been positive enough we have switched to using their code meaning they'll be the new ad provider (note: they will still use mostly google ads)

**UNDERSTANDING THE LIMITATIONS OF THE AD TEST**
There are many factors on PeakD.com that limit the impact of ads. Some of the key limitations include:

- High number of visitors that use mobile
- High percentage from countries with low ad revenue
- High percentage of users that  use Brave or other ad blockers.
- A major limitation was the exclusion of logged-in users in the first test. (unless they opted in... which some of you did)
- Also the content spread across so many genres makes it more challenging as well
- We also don't put a high quantity of ads on pages
- We also have only chosen a few types of pages to put ads on: Posts, snap posts and topic feeds primarily.
 - Meaning we don't have ads on the majority of our pages: profiles, communities, badges, lists, search, publish/drafts, proposals, witness, wallet, dashboard, ai, polls, maps
- We don't have ads on the following feeds: "following feed", Feed in Communities, My "communities feed", badge feeds, User List feeds, Most viewed posts, snaps feed
- Also Ad providers tend to want their ads to be on certain types of content. (which can sometimes be highly viewed content)

# **FAQ: What You Should Know**

- **Are refunds available?** 
 Refunds are only issued for **provable technical errors** (e.g., a timeout preventing image display). Reach out via Snap @peakd or on Discord. 
 > **Note:** If your image is rejected for breaking model terms, refunds are not guaranteed. However, we may consider special cases if you reach out.

- **Can I save my images later?** 
 Not yet! Be sure to download or copy your images right after they’re generated.

- **What about file formats?** 
 Recraft uses **.webp**, while most other models use **JPEG**.

- **How often are models updated?** 
 We frequently evaluate new models based on user feedback and performance. Some models are experiments to see what users enjoy and use the most.

- **How do you get HBD?**
 There are many methods to get HBD but may we suggest a couple.

- **Any known issues?**
	Leonardo models take a lot longer depending on how much they're being used by other services and therefore sometimes take longer than 30 seconds which causes issues getting the image delivered. In general fixing the 30 second timeout and how browsers and our site handles it is something challenging but perhaps worth finding a solution to.

# Decentralized Badge System on Hive: How It Works on PeakD

Badges on the Hive blockchain are not exclusive to PeakD. Any platform on Hive can leverage the badge system equally. With new tools by the @peak.open team, sites now have access to stats and APIs, helping decentralize badges across Hive and making it easier for platforms to display relevant badges.

- Easier for us to determine which badges are active and follow PeakD display rules
- We have a filter that will show you ALL BADGES (even non PeakD qualified badges)
- We show more stats to show health of that badge
- We have different ways to sort badges making it easier to follow good badges.

### Basic Badge Creation
Creating a badge is simple:
1. Make a new account with the username format **@badge-123456** (6-digit suffix).

### Creating a Meaningful Badge
For a badge to be useful and meaningful:
1. **Profile Image:** Upload a badge image users will recognize.
2. **Name:** Set an intuitive name for the badge.
3. **Description:** Describe the badge purpose and how users qualify.
4. **Followers:** Follow accounts that deserve this badge.

## How to Get Badges Displayed on PeakD

PeakD has specific criteria for displaying badges.(Every UI may have their own rules) We review the badge list at [HiveHub Badges](https://hivehub.dev/stats/badges) and will consider any that qualify. If you’d like to get a badge added sooner, comment or send a SNAP to @peakd or @jarvie.

### Requirements for a Badge on PeakD
1. **Profile Image:** Must be clear and relevant.
2. **Name:** The badge name should be understandable.
3. **Description:** Clearly state qualification criteria.
4. **Followers:** Follow accounts that qualify for the badge.
5. **Activity:** Regularly update followers to fulfill the badge's purpose.
6. **Reputation:** Avoid having users frequently hide/mute your badge.
7. **Hive Only:** No mentions of STEEM (badges must be Hive-exclusive).

### Determining Badge Activity
Badges with ongoing relevance or timely updates remain visible. To qualify as "active," a badge must align with its original intent:
- **Active Curation:** If intended for regular updates, badges should "stay current" to avoid misleading users.
- **Archival Badges:** Badges marking a one-time event or time period can remain static if they clearly reflect a historical or unchanging purpose.

*Example:* A badge for "2021 Community Contributors" could remain relevant even without recipient updates, as it reflects a specific timeframe.

## Regaining Badge Status on PeakD

Reviving an old badge on PeakD is straightforward:
1. **Update Badge Details:** Modify the badge description to reflect its current recipient status or make user changes to align with its purpose.
2. **Request Review:** Contact @peakd or @jarvie for a fast review. We’re happy to re-add badges that meet the badges own criteria (and our criteria)

*Note:* Badges on PeakD must consistently meet the platform’s standards to stay active. The essential rule is simple: **Badges must follow the rules the badge itself sets in their own descriptions.**
