ENGLISH

I had not been to the town of Turmero Aragua state for some time, before I had gone many times in fact I spent my adolescence there, this time I went to run an errand and I could not stop taking pictures to bring them here to Hive, the Santiago Mariño square of Turmero is one of the largest squares I've seen in the state, I like it a lot because it has a lot of trees so it is very fresh, it is a very wide square and I remember that in the old days you could pass the cars in front of the square and the church, nowadays it is not like that because they put some barriers so that the cars can't pass.

Turmero is small and has only a few streets, however I have seen that they have built new buildings and new shopping centres, as in the past there was only one which was the Randazo, now I have seen that they have built new ones and the population has been growing, it is said that the Santiago Mariño square was built in the XVII century next to the cathedral which is called Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.

This square is a meeting place for the turmereños where they can meet and socialize in different ways, this morning when I was there I could see several people of adult or older age who were gathered and greeted each other, exchanging greetings to all the people who passed by who are from the town, which means that many of the people who are here know each other since this square is an enclave for socializing and political acts.

Walking through the square I could see that there were two wooden sculptures, one of Jesus and the child Meregoto and one of praying hands made of wood on the edge of the square. I found these sculptures interesting and they must have been made by the people of the village or an artist from the village, they are in front of the church.

Another thing I noticed is that in this square the seats or benches were newly made, as they looked new and I have to say that this square is very busy, as there were no free seats, only one or two that were in the sun, but most were full of people, many times this square is also used to wait for people while they come from other places, as Turmero in its surroundings has quite a lot of nearby towns.

The church of Our Lady of La Candelaria is a historical site and it is also framed around it, in addition to the square, the municipal council, the main market and the police station, it is said that it was founded in 1620 approximately, the architecture of this church is framed in the colonial era, where you can notice that it was a time of quite opulence, At this moment it was closed, so I could not take a picture of the inside but the outside is a really beautiful church, it is said in history that in this church there are catatombs, of course it is not open to the public and there is talk of ancestral specters that are heard in the night hours as there were buried some priests.
