I have been making fresh vegetable juice since 2019. Not because of the pandemic or the hype from an ad or a reel on social media, but because of a life-threatening diagnosis. I drink it every day, but now I drink it sporadically, especially if I don't feel well. It has become my source of vitamins, and I believe, feel, and think that it has helped me heal what is not right inside my body.
Thank God my sister gave me this juicer, which is just placed inside a carton and gets a little dusty. It was finally used because it had been sitting in the box for so long. It's old and still functions.
They are just carrot, cucumber, turmeric pepper, lime (calamansi), and chayote.
I don't want to share this, really. I don't want to mention it on any social media platform. I want to move on and not look back, but I'll just share it anyway.
So, years back, I was diagnosed with the scary c, and that c, I don't want to capitalize coz for me it is of the lowest value. It's harmful, and the worst parasite you could ever have, so I loathe it so much! It has taken my health, energy, beauty, career, and dreams.
I consulted three different physicians from various regions and asked for their opinions. I stopped there, as they all told me the same thing—it felt overwhelming. It was a challenge, especially here in a third-world country where oncologists are few and far between. The one I saw had patients coming from many different cities. I had to take a non-stop, seven-hour bus ride just to get a check-up.
Eventually, we decided to rent a room and stay there for nearly two months to avoid the exhausting travel back and forth from my hometown. My daughters were with me through all those dark and frightening days—especially my eldest. I followed every protocol they recommended. I nearly gave up during the final session I had to undergo. But with the unwavering support of my friends and family, I pushed through. That last treatment, however, caused significant damage and led to major surgery.
After all those conventional treatments, I was at my weakest—physically, mentally, and emotionally. But spiritually, I felt stronger than ever. I believe I drew closer to God. It’s truly a miracle that I’m still here today. Glory to Him alone.
During those days, I felt like I was just floating. I had no energy or desire for anything. I was numb—completely blank.
Okay, enough of that.
Fast forward, here I am, and I can write about it.
I have also been drinking a mixture of greens- barley, moringa, and papaya leaves and sometimes, an orange color drink first thing in the morning.
I put the vegetable pulp back into the juicer to extract more juice again because I didn’t want to waste it—there were still some big bits left.
I made quite a lot, but this is just about 3/4 cup. After drinking it, I felt super energized and it was so refreshing. Thank God for vegetables and plants—they’re what sustain us all.
