Italy memories - espresso, love and laughter

You ever been to Italy? I did. And oh boy…it was amazing! The culture, the people, and yes…FOOOOOD. My god, Italian food is basically happiness on a plate. If I think back, I actually went there a few times. First time? More than 20 years ago. What the hell?! Why am I even counting… now I feel old 😂 So, my very first trip was with my aunt. She took me and my cousins to Gardaland. I was too short for some rides, but who cares, I had the time of my life! We also visited Verona, and of course, I grabbed Juliet’s boob for good luck 😂 (don’t judge me, it’s tradition). They say if you touch her right breast, you’ll find love. Well, look at me now…married and in love. So yeah… thank you Julia!😂 Second trip was Venice, about 16 years ago, with my classmates. Wow. Just wow. The canals, the gondolas, the architecture…

When we went to Burano, I felt like I walked into a box of crayons. Every house is painted in bright colors… pink, blue, green, yellow. I was so impressed, I wanted to knock on a door and ask, “Can I live here too?”

The island is small, with narrow streets and clothes hanging outside, like everyone is showing off their laundry. It felt so real and cozy. I also learned about what they make there. Burano is famous for lace, but we also went to nearby Murano, which is the island of glass. They make amazing things from glass… vases, jewelry, even little animals. I saw glass that looked like candy, but careful, don’t eat it! 😂

Sadly, I lost almost all my photos. Okay, fine, I found some, but ummm... Just look😂

We also tried to show off our Italian. Huge fail. But hey, at least I could order water, an espresso, and ask where the bathroom was. I was so proud of myself yelling: “Una aqua minerale! Uno espresso! Dove è il bagno?!” And they understood! Victory! 💪

IMG_7069.jpeg ( young and drunk in Italy) 😂😂

Now, last weekend we had a little Italian-themed fest. Bella Italia! Food, music, wine (probably not Italian, but who cares 😂). They even gave us brochures about Italy. Like… hello, are you trying to tempt me to go again? Because it’s working.

IMG_6982.jpeg

Italy is just superstar level. Romans, Renaissance, Michelangelo, pizza, Ferraris, Venice floating like it’s no big deal… it has it all.👌 And now? My dream is to see Pompeii. One day I’ll go. I NEED to go.

IMG_6985.jpeg

So tell me… what about you? Been to Italy? Got some photos? Please share because my memory sucks 😂

IMG_7084.jpeg

(Okay… the photo quality is terrible 😂 But hey, we were using old cameras…this was more than 16 years ago! And no, we definitely didn’t have any talent for photography back then.😂)

With love, @tinabrezpike ❤️

Hi,as an Italian, I’m really glad you’re having such positive experiences in ITALY. I strongly recommend that you visit Pompeii — it’s an experience you absolutely must have. And since you’ll be in that area, I’d add a few more stops: the Amalfi Coast, Naples, the Royal Palace of Caserta (simply STUNNING), and above all the island of CAPRI. These places will completely change the way you perceive future destinations. And of course, don’t forget to try pizza.

P.S. If, while you’re in Naples, you happen to meet the historic lady (maybe now her children) who offers you to try a “granita” in the square, don’t be misled — that’s not the real granita, it’s actually finely crushed ice, but delicious (“granitina”). Real granita is a completely different thing, and to taste it you need to come exclusively to SICILY. More precisely, to the whole province of Catania or the city of Catania itself. Only there will you find the authentic granita.

So this is an additional invitation to visit the most beautiful ISLAND in the WORLD: SICILY — full of endless wonders: seaside landscapes, mountains, sculptures, churches, Baroque architecture, and so much more that will leave you speechless like no other place ever could. Italian culture and hospitality, especially that of Sicily and southern Italy, are renowned all over the WORLD.

So, you simply must visit ALL of Italy. Every single Italian region has its own culinary specialties, completely different from one another, and each one more delicious than the last. There’s truly no other place in the world with such unique culinary, cultural, and historical richness.

    Have a great trip — and long live ITALY! @condividisulweb 🍕🍝☕ 😍

Italy is my neighboring country, of course I like it…and the architecture is absolutely amazing! I also remember visiting Trieste two years ago…I can still smell the Illy coffee! It's also my favorite 😂 We were driving near the coffee factory, and the aroma was incredible. You wrote a detailed itinerary for Italy, and I must say, a road trip in the future wouldn't be so bad! Thanks for that!

Coffee in Italy is not just a tradition we hold dear; it’s a culture we export around the world! In Italy you truly feel the atmosphere in bars, kiosks, and more. If you love coffee, then Naples is a must-visit. If you also want to learn about the entire coffee culture, another stop is Turin, where you’ll find the Lavazza Museum, but not only that. I could go on for hours, which is why the WHOLE WORLD wants to copy our culture, creativity, even replicate landscapes, culinary art, and exclusive microclimates—only in Italy, etc. But they never succeed, because ITALIANITY is CULTURE since ancient times, and HISTORY is the immutable proof. The hospitality, especially in the south of Italy, is unparalleled. I’m sure you’ll have fun at these places and at the same time you’ll be left with your mouth open. If you go to Sicily in the future, after Catania and its province, keep going to Palermo and Messina, with other Sicilian provinces; don’t forget Siracusa and Agrigento! The Temples, the history of humanity, and visit also the Ear of Dionysius, a gigantic and amazing cave where you’ll feel like you’re out of this world, but here’s a little gem I’ll give you that many tourists don’t know 100%! Once you’ve entered the “ear” (the cave) and reach a little past the beginning or halfway, stop and shout or emit any sound. You’ll hear an echo that reverberates at the end, creating a spectacular effect. I’ll stop here, due to my limited RC (risk/control?), I could go on for hours. My culture, experience, and linguistic prowess would allow it. Unfortunately here on Hive there are some limitations :( But perhaps I’ll write articles about these points, places, and experiences. So only if you want, follow me on Hive. Meanwhile, I thank you for sharing your experience as well. I wish you a good continuation ! @condividisulweb ☕ 🇮🇹 🌍

That Juliet statue bit cracked me up, and clearly it worked for you :)
I havent made it to Italy yet, but your Burano word picture made me want to book a ticket right now.
Pompeii is on my list too, and your note about the glass that looks like candy is the kind of warning I need because my sweet tooth is wild.
If I ever get there, I’ll try to budget time for Murano like an ADmin blocking calendar time, only happier.
Also, your making me crave pasta already, grazie!

Ha, Italy ruins us for Bolognese, but the the home pot can still sing if we go low and slow. I swear a splash of milk and a long simmer is magic, and maybe a tiny grating of nutmeg :) I dont judge, but pancetta in or you stick to classic beef only?

Gardaland is sooo funny and Venezia is wonderful (even if now it's a little expensive :P ). I visited both of them years ago, but I feel myself lucky because I live not so far from another beautiful italian city: Florence! :D Yes, I'm italian and so : thanks so much for this awesome post about my country. ❤️

I mean, guys, you're living in an architectural fairy tale! Of course, I love it! And I still believe that Italian people really hate when someone puts pineapple on pizza, am I right? People with pineapple on pizza should be banned from Italy for life! 😂

On our regular (not this year) trip to the Balkans, we would go through Italy and we we trying to stop in different places, just to cover more of it... 😃 But, sometimes, we came back to the same place... For example, we visited Vicenza and Treviso multiple times (as of affordable accommodation prices, and a strategic place for taking a break for our 2.5K km trip... 😀)... I do remember having posts about them, but I can't find them all.. So, here you are, the most recent trips... :)

Italy rulez! Definitely my favorite on those trips, and we never went wrong with food in Italy... Never!
