Hemp – the plant of a thousand faces

(73)inGEMS

Everybody knows this damn plant. Seriously. We’re in the 21st century, and humans have been messing around with it for like 10,000 freakin’ years. Back then they didn’t “discover” it, they just realized… oh shit…this green thing can actually do a lot.

And before you roll your eyes… chill. Read first, judge later.

I was like 15 when I first came across weed. Didn’t touch it though. Some kids at school were lighting up during breaks, laughing their asses off, while I stuck with coffee and beer. Weed wasn’t “my time” yet. Then life kicked me in the stomach. Literally. Three weeks of hell… nonstop pain, vomiting, losing 6 kilos in 3 weeks. Doctors? Clueless. Pills? Useless. I couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink, just lay there like a zombie in pain. One day, some friends dropped by, rolled a joint (like always), and I just said: “fuck it, give me that.” Boom. My stomach calmed down. I calmed down. Then I got hungry (finally!), made myself soup, ate it… and waited for the pain train to hit. But nope. Nothing. For the first time in weeks, I wasn’t screaming in cramps or running to the toilet. What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Of course, after a few hours, the pain came back. But still…no pill had ever done that for me. This “illegal little plant” gave me a few hours of peace. So I tried again the next day. Same result. That’s when my brain went: wait… maybe it’s not about being “stoned.” Maybe it’s about being okay.

Diagnosis! Crohn’s & more shit ( literally) Months later, after losing more weight and my pride (cheers to “treatments”), the doctors finally said: “Congrats, you’ve got Crohn’s disease.” Perfect. Just what I wanted. Finding the right meds took forever. In the meantime, the only thing that kept me halfway alive? Weed. Not all the time, not to get high… just when the pain was unbearable, so I could eat, sleep, or simply not scream. Even my doctor in Austria was like: “Yeah, if it helps you, use it.” Then came epilepsy. Because of course my body wanted more drama. Again, weed wasn’t a miracle cure, but damn….it helped calm me down before seizures, especially at night when my nerves were on fire. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. But when it did? Lifesaver.

Here’s what pisses me off…alcohol and cigarettes are legal, yet cannabis (which literally helps people with Crohn’s, epilepsy, MS, chemo nausea, you name it) is still thrown into the same “evil drug” bag as heroin and coke. Like… are you kidding me? Not everyone smokes to get high. Some of us smoke to function, to not drown in pain, to simply eat without crying. And yeah, kids these days want to look cool with a joint, but that’s not our story. For people like me, it’s medicine. So yeah, I don’t care if someone calls me a stoner. My parents know, my whole family knows, and they don’t judge. They saw how much it helped. If Slovenia finally changes the law (and it looks like it might), maybe people will stop acting like it’s some devil’s lettuce.

Hemp isn’t new. It’s one of the oldest plants humans ever cultivated. We used it for food, clothes, ropes, medicine, even freakin’ paper. Ancient China, India, Egypt, they were already healing, meditating, and making stuff out of it thousands of years ago. Middle Ages, people used it for sails and ropes. Then ships conquered the oceans with hemp sails. Later, politics kicked in, bans happened, and cannabis got demonized in the 20th century. Now? Science is back on its side. Medical cannabis, CBD oils, hempcrete, protein powders, even eco-friendly plastics. Hemp is basically humanity’s Swiss Army Knife.

IMG_6750.jpeg

For me, cannabis isn’t about escaping reality. It’s about surviving it. I don’t need it every day. But when I do, it helps. And that’s enough. So yeah. Hemp isn’t just “a plant for getting high.” It’s been with us since the dawn of civilization, and it can heal, feed, build, and calm the fuck out of people like me.

So maybe… just maybe… it’s time to stop treating it like the boogeyman.

Thank you, girl! ❤️ but don't be sorry… this is part of life. Because of everything I've gone through, I feel much stronger than I would have otherwise. It's just how life is :) I'm glad that I may have opened some eyes and encouraged people to treat these plants differently. Thanks for stopping by! ❤️❤️

Thank you ❤️ You know, sometimes it's better to share these stories with you guys, rather than keep them locked deep inside. It really helps me to put this down on paper (or, okay, on the screen) 😂. You never know…maybe my experiences can help others too. Thanks for stopping by ❤️

Just found this post randomly and I’m glad I did at the time I did. I smiled, laughed, “awwwned”, went quiet a bit and then got back to smiling. You’ve gone through a lot. Like so much. I’m so sorry. But I’m also glad they finally found what was wrong.

Anyway, I knew weed was medicinal(because it’s literally just herbs? But magical) but I didn’t know it was this deep. Wow. Thank you for the enlightenment.

Very interesting! I'm just wondering why they ban this plant instead of looking for its potentials.
