Agriculture has been for as long as I can tell. It is one major source of human sustenance and it is not even possible to think what it will be like if agriculture wasn’t there. Today, despite the involvement of people in agriculture, we still find so many adulterated foods out there and even more scary because the health of humanity is continually throw into jeopardy. No one is sure of what works any more. We hardly find the right foods to purchase and in the quality and quantity that we want it.
But all that is just part of the so many problems that are associated with agriculture. Today, we have problem of supply and demand. Due to the continuous increase in the demand of foods, this has given some retailers and even wholesalers the privilege to shortchange the manufacturers and the final consumers. I know how many times I have heard the prices of things where they are majorly produced compared to where they are finally sold, the difference is so much that even the manufacturers will be shocked when they hear of the price tag on their products.
Most days, I wish there was a way I can have direct contact with the manufacturers of the different products I consume because that is the only way I can be able to cut down cost and also get the best quality for myself. Having an app that can do this for me would be a life changing experience. Being able to connect with the farmers or manufacturers of a particular product or farm products will help me get the best results for my money, and as well reduce my worries. If such an app existed, all I have to do is know what I want and just like Jumia and Amazon, I can place my orders and expect it right at my doorstep.
Buying directly from the manufacturers will also be beneficial to them because they can understand the market better than going through various suppliers. And that also will reduce the way people are shortchanged especially by retailers. They will no longer have the opportunity to increase the prices of goods way above normal. With that app, even if we buy things from retailers and wholesalers, we will be rest assured that they are selling to us at a reasonable price because they know we can easily afford buying directly from the manufacturers.
If such an app was to exist, I’ll call it Farmity (farm community). I’m calling it that because it fits perfectly with what will be taking place in the app. I’d want the app to be able to give updates on new products in the market. Also, a place for people to leave a review and even write about their experiences just like hive and if possibly, get a discount for a good review.
