Today, we call ourselves the technology generation because we’ve grown so addicted to our screens we can’t even stop for a moment to process what is happening around us. This current situation we find ourselves in when it comes to our interactions with one another and the outside world is as a result of our over reliance on social media.

I remember spending two months in a remote village about two years ago and I must say, that was the best time I had in my life since I got introduced to the internet and social media. Why because, I was forced to take a step back and live in the real world. This village had no light and network to even place a simple call. All you had were the people around you and you had to find ways and means of living with them and being happy. This experience gave me the opportunity to bond with people I didn’t even know, I got to learn more about myself and enjoy the beauty of nature and the things around me which I never paid attention to. 


When it comes to communication, I’d say I prefer to to interact with people in person because, then I get to see their facial expressions and know how they actually feel. We’ve all been used to texting on Snapchat, whatsapp and what have you to the extent that we don’t even know how to have basic conversations with people in person. Imagine texting someone nicely on WhatsApp only to meet them in person and realise they lack communication skills. It might sound funny but that’s the truth and you’d admit to that.

Social media is convenient for us in most cases but it also masks a lot. We don’t get to experience what it feels like to talk to others in person , the bonds we form and those moments we get to experience. It might sound like a waste of time to you but just because you haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean it’s nothing. I always say we sometimes need to experience stuff to be able to fully comprehend. For those having issues staying off the screens to talk to people in real life, maybe you can start going for hangouts with others or just paying your friends and  family random visits. This is a step towards living in the real world and not on social media.

**Hello, Cine TV Community!**

Today, we bring to you exciting news! Some of you who are in the BRO Server may have already gotten the news, but this is us making the official announcement. We have watched and witnessed the Cine TV Community grow in leaps and bounds, and now we’re here to announce another scale to our growth because as of right now, our beloved Cine TV is part of the **OCD Incubation Program.**

## About the OCD Incubation Program

The OCD curation project is one of the biggest projects we have here on Hive that focuses on helping talented, under-rewarded authors who put forward original content consistently on Hive. The primary idea being to encourage these individuals for their efforts, by [recognizing the value of communities](https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@ocd/ocd-community-incubation-program-finalized) as a platform for connection and growth. And from doing this, the greater the chances of onboarding new people into the most if not the only healthy social media platform out there, that is Hive.

Many of us are already familiar with the OCD Incubation Program which is all about empowering communities that produce consistently engaging authors who put their best foot forward by putting out quality and original content. Curators sift through these contents and do as they can to direct rewards as a way of encouraging these talented and dedicated authors who need them the most.

What this means for the Cine TV Community is that from now on, our team of curators will be on the lookout for posts from dedicated authors that showcase true effort and thought.

## How Do We Achieve This?

For this new stage in the Cine TV journey, we figured that it is only necessary to lay out some ground rules and preferences that we must be aware of to ensure a seamless transition for us all.

•	**Zero-Tolerance For AI-Generated and Low Effort Content:** While this goes without saying, it is necessary to remind us of the need to stay away from unoriginal and AI-generated content. What truly shows value is the time and effort we dedicate to whatever content we’re putting out there, and we all hope that Hive is that platform that encourages that effort. So, no AI-generated content and no low effort posts as well. We’re a film-oriented community and we want to reward authors who have shown dedication thus far, so while there is no minimum word count level, a considerable word count is encouraged to foster curation.


•	**The Cine TV Frontend:** We’re constantly working hard to provide you with a frontend where you can make your film-related posts smoothly and seamlessly. We are not tyrants, as you know, but in a bid to boost the Cine TV as a community and as a platform, posts made using the frontend are preferred and encouraged.


•	**Best Foot Forward:** So, you may be wondering if your writing style has to change, but the answer is no. We only as that from now on, and in light of the fact that we are now broadcasting to a larger community and Hive as a whole, that everyone **puts their best foot forward.** This means that it’s time to give it our best shot in content and showcase just how amazing the Cine TV Community is.

We are incredibly excited as we begin this new journey in the Cine TV Community. We trust that it’s only the beginning and that this will be our launching pad to even more growth and greatness. The OCD Incubation Program has showed their faith in us by making us a part of their program, and we’re looking forward to replicating same with you.

There are a lot of interesting facts that exist in the world today but many have not yet discovered that yet and even what I am going to share with you guys today would be a surprise to some of you as well because I was shocked and astonished 😧hearing that for the first time. Without much ado, let’s dive into today’s topic. What are my random facts? Here you go: “Playing video games helps surgeons perform better”. Yup, you got me right, surgeons who play video games have a good efficiency rate compared to those who don’t. You may ask how is that possible. Let’s dive into it then.

This was a research conducted in 2007 and that study found out that surgeons who play video games at least three hours a week perform 27% faster and more efficiently with reduced errors of about 37%. Isn’t that amazing? Yes, it is. So basically we understand that playing video games involves a lot of thinking and analysis especially when it gets to the harder stage where you have to think out of the box to find a solution to your problem to win a stage or level. This is where the benefits come in as a surgeon, it helps you to build or improve your IQ in so doing and at larger enhances your skill when it comes to surgery because you can think faster out of the box to find the solution to the problem in front of you.

Also, playing video games as a surgeon would help you to work faster because in playing video games you need to be quick and sharp in decision-making so as you overcome your opponent. This tend to improve your sensory skills thereby enhancing your ability to think fast and accurate. The idea of using the brain, and the keyboard or a controller at the same time in gaming also helps to improve sensorimotor skills which is a crucial skill that as a surgeon you need to possess. 

Some games are also meant to tutor medical professionals and we have them classified under stimulative games. It’s a fun game and also educative as well because medical professionals have the chance to learn more and new skills in their work. There are a lot of good games out there that aren’t meant solely for surgeons, you can equally play them to build and improve your IQ.

Mind you, too much of everything is bad as they say. It can be a time-consuming product to you if you commit your full day to it so be careful and don’t be too addicted. Also, people can one way or another learn these aggressive and offensive acts from gaming which isn’t the best thing to do, let’s try to avoid such and rather go in for the best part of it. I am a game lover as everyone knows me on the Hive blockchain to be but mind you, I don’t harm people with it, haha 🤣. There are a lot of fun facts in the world which you didn’t know of and here I served you with one already.

##### <center> A FEW THINGS ABOUT HOW THE PROGRAM WOULD RUN</center>

The Newbies Initiative will last for three months (90 days) this time around. There are so many changes we have made, and as usual, the participants will be divided into three groups with three leaders for a total of 30 students per group.

We have competent leadership consisting of team leaders and instructors who will be dedicated to mentoring you on the relevant things you need to know about Hive through a series of live meetings on Discord and Tutorial posts.

In the Discord meetings weekly, we will discuss different the topics outlined in [this post](https://peakd.com/hive-153850/@newbies-hive/discover-the-newbies-initiative-your-path-to-success-on-the-hive-blockchain) and you can ask questions regarding what you don’t understand in the tutorial posts provided, and so on. We will provide translation for participants whose primary language is not English, so be rest assured. 

After the Discord meeting is held, a task will be given to members every week. This is to assess participants’ understanding of the theme discussed during the week. Team leaders will assess their students and give reports every week on the team’s performance and progress of newbies.

It is very important for the newbies to know that even though the initiative will try to support newbies via curation, **votes are not guaranteed for anyone**. The intent for joining the initiative is to have fun and learn about Hive.

Life is a journey that is full of lessons, ups and downs, and great opportunities that are made available only to those who may be prepared in the instance that it comes. This is why many say that opportunity comes once in a while in a person's life. These lessons of life sometimes come in ways that we wish we had known earlier.

Weekly Engagement-WK 11: Join Us For A Week Filled With Exciting Activities

I really look forward to weekends a lot these days. For the most obvious one being no lectures. But they’ve become the only time I get to stay in my room for a while. 
I had a function to attend this Saturday morning but I’d just made up my mind not to. 
A few people called to asked me if I’m coming and I just had to find all kinds of excuses. I planned to do other things during the early hours of the day but I couldn’t get out of bed. It was almost 10 am when I finally managed to get up. 
First thing was to get my clothes washed cause I hadn’t done it in about 2 weeks and it was piling up.

I got started with that and it took longer than I expected. 

I had plans for the evening. I don’t think I’ve willingly attended any party on campus unless I’m obliged to. So this was the first I was attending on my own. Well, there are other reasons taking me there but let’s focus.

The program was to set to begin at 8:00pm but we all know that’s not gonna happen. 
I called a few friends to come around so that we will go together. They came at 9 pm. That’s the time I decided to go find something to wear. Everything I put on, felt like I was doing too much. 
But I just had to come up with something. 
Unfortunately I didn’t take any picture. 

We were a group of 6 and we split into two. It’s been a long time we’ve hanged out so it was quite refreshing.

We got to the venue at 10 pm but it looked like we got there too early. 

There was music obviously and there were other games too. Tables tennis and FIFA were the only ones I saw though.

Then we got closer after a while cause there was an activity going on. 
From what I saw, a sachet of water was placed on the floor, then a volunteer was blindfolded and given a stick and asked to walk to the sachet water and hit it with the stick. Saying it seems easy.
Even watching it, it appeared easy. But it was extremely hard for the participants.

Before being blindfolded, the participants would calculate the distance or number of steps it would take to get to the sachet of water from where they are blindfolded. All these tactics and they would still miss it😂. Some would just start walking off in a different direction. 
There were a few people who were able to hit the target but most of them were just lost. 

Then there was a comedy performance. But I couldn’t get any pictures because I was so busy with this ice cream. It wasn’t all that but it was something.

Then came the ‘date rush’. That’s the highlight of the show. 
How it’s done is this. A bunch of ladies would line up, then a guy will present himself before them. First, a profile video of the guy would be displayed to give a fair knowledge about him to the ladies.

Based on the video and his appearance, those that would like to go on a date would him would remain quiet while those that I not interested would raise their hands or some sort of signal. Then another video is shown. This talks about his likes, hobbies, past relationships, his type of girl and stuff. Then the ladies would decide again.

The ladies are given the opportunity to ask the guy questions to enable them decide and finally, he might get a date or none at all. 
So that was exactly what happened. While this was going on, I got distracted. 
I was busy taking pictures of @nhaji01 and @depressedfuckup who were right infront of me.

I wasn’t really getting a good one but I think this one is better.

Next was a performance from a student artist.

Unfortunately, it was cut short because we were asked to end the program at 12:00 am. 
I wasn’t surprised though cause I was already aware of it. I was even surprised the program went on for that long. The reason for this time limit, I don’t even want to bring it up😏. 

Anyway, anyone started leaving and I was trying to get another picture of @nhaji01 here but it didn’t come out well.

I got together with my squad again and we made our way back home. I went straight to bed when I got to the hostel and woke up the next day still wearing the same clothes.

Weekend Experiences

Pre-Val’s day party

Last Monday, my sister suggested we go out to watch Avatar 2. It was an impromptu decision and it was already past 9 pm. She went online to check the showtimes for the movie and the last one for the day was at 10:30 pm.
It was 10:15 when we left home and there was a possibility we wouldn’t be allowed in if we got there too late.

We got there 20 minutes later and the movie must have started by then.

We went straight to get our tickets. Since we were late, there was no queue so we didn’t waste much time.

We got into the cinema and the movie was already showing. 
Honestly I forgot what Avatar was all about cause it’s been so many years since I watched watched the first one. My cousin mentioned a few things and I remembered the whole concept. Since we were late and the movie was showing already, we couldn’t really decide on a good place to sit we were just trying to find 4 empty seats together. When we did, we realized why no one was there. It was right in front of an Air conditioner. No one was well dressed for that so the whole time was uncomfortable. 
The movie was great. And I was really enjoying it until I fell asleep. I had been occupied the whole day with some work. And I knew I was tired but I didn’t think I would end up sleeping like that. When I finally woke up, it was at its most interesting part. The protagonist family had lost a son and it was so sad. I was able to keep my eyes open this time till the end of the movie.

When we came out of the cinema, it was time to take pictures but I wasn’t in the mood for it so I just watched them take theirs.

We finally left and this was around 1:30 am. The parking lot empty.

When we got to the car, my sister noticed a crack in front of the car and spent a few minutes looking at it.

We got home at exactly 2:00 am and I and my cousin had already slept off. We got in and went straight to bed.
For the movie, I think I need to watch it again when I’m much relaxed to get it all in.

Movie Night: Avatar 2

Writing this post at 12 am on Tuesday because I know today will have so many things to write about. Today is my cousin’s birthday and she has been preparing for this for so long. She says it has given her anxiety. 
I’m sitting with her right now and I wasn’t even the first to wish her. I guess I will do it later when I’m giving her a gift. Lemme leave this post for later.

The day started as usual. My aunt said we should go to a new apartment she has rented to do some cleaning before she finally moves in. We have been doing that for a couple of weeks now.
We stopped by the mall because she wanted to get a gift for my cousin and we waited for her for about 30 minutes.

When we finally got to the apartment, it was already past 1 pm.

We planned to leave there at 3 pm because it takes over an hour to go back home. It’s 5:32 now and we are now leaving. Hungry and tired.

We have to go and get ready for my cousin’s birthday
We got home an hour and 23 minutes later. We were already late or so we thought because my sister called and asked us to hurry up. 
So we went in and got dressed and we still had to wait for the birthday girl.

We had made reservations at the restaurant for 8 pm and we left home at 8:40.

When we arrived, two of my cousin’s friends were in already and we waited for a couple more. We were 10 in total. 

I was starving cause I only had breakfast so I was eagerly waiting for them to serve the food.

My cousin had stepped out with a friend to take pictures and when she returned, she was surprised with a saxophone performance. She was literally in tears.

They brought the food after a while and we were to serve ourselves. 

We began with the appetizer which was salad and some type of spaghetti.

No one really knew what they were eating but we just did something to represent something. 

Then we had some fried rice with steak and fish. That was what I was actually able to eat.

For the dessert, we had chocolate cake, a slice of orange and slices of watermelon.

But before we had the dessert, I went to the bathroom to try and get a few pictures of myself else I wouldn’t have anything to put on here.

We spent some time taking pictures and videos of the birthday girl whilst she danced to the tune of the saxophone. 

Later came the cake. We took turns in helping her cut it but by then, everyone was already full. We just ate tiny pieces of it and we had to leave because the restaurant was to close at 11 and it was past 11:30pm.

Moreover, my cousin was going with her friends and my sister to the night club to dance away the rest of the night.

They dropped me home with my aunt, got changed again and headed out with the rest of the girls. 

This few hours out got me so exhausted because already, being around a lot of people makes me tired. Another fun thing too was that, almost all my cousin’s friends were my friends too. One was a former classmate from junior high and another from senior high school. It was nice seeing them again.

Birthday Dinner

Going into this match there was a lot of talks a about what Barcelona could do to calm and their fans down and to also keep the hopes of their champions league is alive. I was one of the people who thought Barca could do it at Camp Nou. It turned out I was wrong and boy I am glad I was wrong. 

Barcelona as we all know it lost to inter Milan at their home last week which left them with only 3 points. The only points they got were from beating plezn by 5 goals to 1 in the opening group stage game. Coming into this game, Barcelona had just 3 points with Inter having 6 points. Baryen Munich as usual too their group with 9 points and winning against plezn in their return leg meant they will qualify early and they did just that. 

Loosing to inter would have meant that Barcelona will be going back into Europa League for the second season in a row. 

As soon as the match started I said to my brother; ‘Barcelona are rushing and they might end up giving away cheap ball’. The problem with what they were doing was that even though they piled io pressure on inter, it still felt like they couldn't penetrate them. In the opening 20 minutes of the game, it looked like the first leg but inter were better this time. It seems Barca forgot that Inter can play they have refused to play and they choose to invite the pressure they get from Barca. 

As soon as the ball turned over they counted in style. In most cases, all of their players were behind the ball but they still found a way to pick those two passes and they were in the 18 of Barca.  Because of this Barca were forced to give out cheap fouls cause if they don't do that they will concede. Just like that, they gave away a cheap foul in their half of the pitch. Inter managed to pick out Dzeko but his effort could only come off the crossbar; Tes tergen was left standing as he couldn't do much to prevent it. They were lucky it didn't enter.

This e game continued In a similar fashion up until the 40 minute. Raphina on the right wing played pretty good yesterday. He worked so hard to get the ball into the feet of Roberto who played the ball into the box where Dembele simply tapped it in. They celebrated as if they had just won the game 😂. They forget they still had a whole 45 minutes to play.  Camp Nou erupted, the fans went wild as they celebrated the opening goal. 

After their goal, they slowed down a bit. They wanted to take the lead into the first-half break. They did just that. I had lost hope on inter as I thought now was the time Barca would score more goals. 

The second half begun in similar fashion. But this time round Barca slowed down since they had the lead. In the 50th minute, Barella scored the equaliser but how they conceded the goal was hilarious. Bastoni played a ball over the top, pique was closer to it and instead of heading it away, he made a gesture as if he was telling the players to leave it for the keeper.

Barella reacted quickly to get onto the ball and score a beautiful goal. Now Barca became worried once again. They started panicking and played into the hands of inter. Inter realised it was hard for them to defend air balls and the whole night all they did was get balls over the top. The second goal was conceded similarly. Calhanoglu played a ball over the top which Matinez controlled brilliantly with his chest. As soon as he controlled it he played the first-time shot onto the right post, which came off the second post and into the net.

Just like that inter was ahead. They inter calmed everything down within a twinkle of an eye. Barcelona knew if they didn't react it could be bad for them. They tried till the 82nd minute. They scored an equaliser through Robert Lewandowski. After scoring they had hope. 

As they say, “You are most vulnerable after a r scoring and it showed”. Because Barca was chasing the game they sent all their players into inters half. That was stupid of them. Over here do we blame the coach or the players? The coach saw that and he didn't ask them to go back. 


Onana played a long ball over the top to Martinez, who run from his half onto the ball. He managed to carry it brilliantly and played a through ball into the feet of Gosens who scored. Sincerely I thought inter had won it but Lewandowski had different plans. The scoring and being vulnerable applied to Inter here. They conceded the equaliser through Lewandowski's brilliant header and it was 3-3. What a game. 

In the dying minutes of the game inter could have won it, if it were not for the selfishness of Gosens. They had a one-on-one situation and instead of laying the ball to the feet of his player who would just tap the ball into am empty net he wanted to score by himself. Yes tergen managed to spread himself well and block the ball with his feet. 

From all indications, Barca would play Europa unless Inter fuck up against Plezn. But even it Inter fuck up against Plezn Barcelona will have to win against Baryen if they have any hope of qualifying. If they wanna qualify it all depends on inter losing or drawing to plenz and Bayern and then they win the rest of their matches.

Inter Hold Barcelona To an Entertaining Draw at Camp Nou In the Champions League.

I cant express how excited I was when I came across this community. Finally, a place to ask all the questions I have whilst having fun. I like to code even though I sometimes get lazy and I don't do it for long periods of time. But once I start, I don't want to stop. 
After exploring a couple of things, I decided I wanted to focus on data Science. So I started watching tutorials and anything else I could find. It was going great but school stress sometimes got in the way. Earlier this year, a friend came to me and asked me to join her team as she was about to sign up for a hackathon. One thing about me, I always feel I'm mot up to task to do something (imposter Syndrome)so my first instinct was to say no. She insisted and said the hackathon was based on AI and I'm the only one she knows that's familiar with it. I just had to agree even though I know I don't have anything in my head. This reminds me of something I read a few days ago which says 
> Give a dog a bad name and you may as well hang him. But give him a good name - and see what happens! 

This is from the book "How to win friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. it basically talks about giving someone a good reputation to live up to. 
So when my friend made it clear to me that she really needs me in her team, I had no option than to agree and try to live up to expectation. 
The frustrating part of the whole thing was that, I was actually the only person in the group that knew something about AI. So everything was on me. I had to get the project as well as work on it whilst the other members just waited. At this point, We even had mid semesters coming up and the Hackathon was in about a week. 
I had this idea from a friend about creating at automatic attendance system as my final year project. So I thought it would be good for the hackathon since it met the requirements. But there was still a problem. I didn't know how to go about it. The tutorials I was watching, I could see on the playlist that there was something relating to that but I hadn't gotten there yet. So I thought it best to continue watching till I get there. but I was getting impatient so I went online to search for similar projects and I found a couple of them. I started trying out those codes till I found one that was just perfect for what I needed. I told my self I would read the documentation and everything else later and I was so excited that I wasn't going to disappoint my teammates only to get a text saying that the hackathon has been postponed. This was like 3 days to the said date. I was relieved and pissed. Relieved because I will get more time to actually understand what I'm doing and pissed because I had spent so much time on it when I should have been studying. I remember I just closed the project and never opened it again until yesterday. Its been 5 months.

## A little detail about what the system does. 
It contains a database of all the people lets say students. the picture and name. So when the student appears before the camera, it records the name and time the person came in in an excel sheet.
This is a solution to the whole process of signing attendance for every single lecture. So many functionalities can be added to this but I guess you get the point. 
When I opened the code yesterday, I tried to run it and it was filled with errors. Ideally, I should take my time to go through and figure out what it is but I panicked and I just closed it. I'm yet to go through it all over again to figure out what it is. Here is what it looked like.
