**During my stay in Croatia last year, I went to the Adriatic coast to photograph seascapes during the golden and blue hours. I took my Nikon Z6 with a 24-70mm lens and a tripod.**

The weather was very good. Warm, but not scorching. There was practically no one on the shore. I could undisturbed and find interesting shots in peace and quiet. 

I found a few boats moored on the shore. The sun was already low, and sunset was approaching inexorably. I regretted not arriving a little earlier. I had missed most of the golden hour. However, there was still some light on the boats.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, I decided to explore the area a little further. I found a few small piers jutting out into the Adriatic Sea. To photograph them, I extended my exposure time to blur the water and give the photo a softer feel. There was still sunshine glow on the horizon, but it was the moon that took up watch as the guardian of the night sky. It can be seen on the left, as a small dot.

**I really liked the effect of the sun's rays appearing in the evening sky**. The last vestiges of the sun slowly and inexorably giving way to the dark night.

Cool colors began to dominate. The blue and magenta hues gave the scene a subtle, soothing coolness after a hot day.

Adriatic Seascape On a Summer Evening

During last year's vacation, which my wife and I spent on the Peljesac Peninsula, we decided to go a little further south in Croatia and visit Dubrovnik.

We chose Srd Hill as the parking spot for our car.It's a hill in Dubrovnik that slopes down to the sea and towards the city center.

From the hill you can admire beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea, the urban part of Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian mountains.

When we arrived in the morning, there were a lot of clouds in the sky and it was clear that there was some rain, but it was distant and avoided Dubrovnik. After taking a few photos, we went on a several-minute walk down towards the city part.

As we were going down, the sun started to shine and it became pleasantly warm and the city took on a beautiful glow. The Old Town of Dubrovnik made a stunning impression on me. The city's magnificent, well-maintained historic architecture is truly impressive.

The Old Town is surrounded by walls and can only be accessed through one of several gates in the walls. After having a coffee at one of the cafes on the outskirts, we passed through one of these gates.

It was morning, so the port was still relatively quiet, but the first visitors were already arriving.

We continued exploring the eastern part of the city and the monuments located there. It was already starting to get crowded.

It was finally time to visit the main part of the old town with the most popular monuments. I felt like I'd been transported to another era. The historic buildings here are in excellent condition. It's clear that care is taken to maintain the architecture.

In virtually every corner you can find something worth stopping for a moment, reflecting on, and admiring. We spent a few hours exploring and, satisfied, returned to Srd Hill, from where we set off on our way back to Kuciste, where we were staying overnight.

Looking around the hill and towards the land, there's no indication that a crowded city is nearby. One might even get the impression that this is a wild mountainous region, and that nature rules these lands.

Worldmappin

A Visit In Beautiful Dubrovnik

The **Peljesac Peninsula** truly captivated me during a vacation there with my wife. It's home to what I value and adore most in landscape – ***the combination of mountains and water***. The peninsula is essentially mountains jutting out from the **Adiratic Sea**, and the highest peak of the entire range is **Sveti Ilija** *(St. Elijah's Mountain)*.

One fine day, we decided to conquer this **961-meter-above-sea-level peak**. Its height doesn't seem like much, but considering that we started the ascent from practically sea level (our accommodation was right next to the sea), the vertical distance climbed is quite a lot. See what happened to us along the way and whether it was worth it.

As we gain altitude, we can admire beautiful **Korcula** – an island adjacent to the peninsula. We took the ferry to Korcula another day, but more on that another time.

**Korcula is incredibly photogenic when viewed from above**. It's a beautiful island, where the hills create a layered, wave-like effect, and it is mostly covered with forest.

The forest that accompanied us on part of the trail also looks beautiful in the photos.

The higher we go, the more expansive the scenery becomes. Slowly, more and more of the mountainous coast of **Croatian Dalmatia** comes into view.

The view from the top took me completely by surprise. I didn't expect the peninsula to look so beautiful from above.

I took tons of photos to capture these beautiful mountain and rock formations. There was a lot to photograph.

At one point, I was standing and staring at the lines of mountains jutting out of the sea, and they started to remind me of something. They reminded me of... the Godzilla movie. Specifically, the new series about this giant. These mountains look a bit like the legendary beast's back, jutting out of the ocean as it swims through the endless waters.

I have very fond memories of these views, but the hike was demanding. Downright exhausting in the heat. We hiked for about five hours, with some challenging climbs. **It's essential to reach the summit very early in the morning to get there before the sun's strongest rays.** **It's also worth bringing 2-3 liters of water per person on really hot days**.

On the Top of the Peljesac Peninsula

Hi everyone.

My name is Arek, and I'm not entirely new here. You can find me under the alias @kadr-pokaze and read a little more [here](https://nocdn.peakd.com/landscapephotography/@kadr-pokaze/my-short-story). I created this account for several reasons. The most important is probably that I don't like writing posts in two languages. I prefer to target a specific language group (English or Polish), but I don't want to mix content aimed at my native Polish community with content aimed at foreign communities. I want to keep the blog consistent, so it's clear who it's for. Since joining Hive, my head has been full of ideas and different projects, and that's another reason. I can't manage it all coherently on one blog. My desire to engage with different communities (mainly photography or travel) and help develop them will also be easier if I divide my involvement between two blogs. I need this to be able to fully spread my wings and contribute as much as possible to the development of the Hive communities.
